Being a travel family lifestyle blog, it is an understatement to say that we love travelling and sharing our experiences. We had wrote about various countries and recommended places to stay . As a local , we do take the occasional staycations to experience life in Singapore as a 'tourist' . Being avid travellers who source the internet for travel tips , we thought our insights will be useful for tourists travelling to Singapore too.



If you are visiting Singapore for the first time, these are the hotspots you can consider to stay when you are here in this little red dot.


Orchard Road

This is the original tourist belt that first timers would consider for their trip to Singapore .

Notable hotels that last through the passage of time includes Mandarin Orchard Hotel And Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel . Both are favoured due to their strategic positions at the heart of Orchard Road.

At the heart of shopping belt

Cons
A distance away from attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore , Gardens by the Bay and Zoo

Marina Bay

Another popular area is the Marina Bay . The Bay has established itself as the hotspot due to the closeness to theatres , museums and Marina bay sands .
Notable hotels to consider are Marina Bay Sands and Mandarin Marina . Both are great spots especially during NDP fireworks and New Year Eve

Pros
Great location if you are in town for Fireworks and F1 weekend . Epicentre of arts and culture scene due to the location . The NMS , Art gallery , Victoria concert, SaM , SPM and esplanade are within walking distance 

Cons
Depending on which part of Marina Bay, it can get quiet at the weekends, especially at the areas near Marina Bay Financial Center.

Sentosa

The state of Fun promises Fun for travelling families . With RWS as its co inhabitants , Fun is now double in Sentosa

Families would head for hotels in RWS such as Hard Rock Hotel , Festive hotel . Rasa Sentosa hotel and Le meridian are alternative for its facilities and location .

Pros
Fun at your doorstep . You have USS, SEA , Trickeye museum in RWS and attractions such as Lug rides on Sentosa . Not forgetting the lure of the pristine beaches of Sentosa

Cons
Getting to the mainland by Monorail would be the best bet if you are exploring the rest of the country . Not for the shopping crowd

Chinatown

Tourist looking for a cultural experience may opt for Chinatown . There are plenty of interesting boutique hotels in the area such as hotel 1929 or established names such as Parkroyal on Pickering. Best time to stay here would be during the Chinese New Year period.

Pros
Close to the Chinatown region . Great food and close to town. Get a taste of old Singapore with its historical buildings and shophouses

Cons
Away for kids friendly attractions ( however most are just an MRT ride away )

East Coast


The East Coast is an upcoming area for tourist who wants to get closer to the suburbs and yet close to town . The historical Joo Chiat with its war houses is a charm to explore . Getting to East Coast means heading to the Beach ( East Coast Park ) is probably a destination for tourist .
East Coast is also well known for the entries and restaurants peppered along the stretch of road . Shopping is plentiful due to malls such as Parkway Parade and I12 Katong . Upcoming hotels such as Holiday inn Express and Village hotel dot this stretch of road.

Pros
Close to the heart of Katong . Get a glimpse of the perankan culture

Cons
Not in the familiar tourist hotspots , No MRT

Jurong

Jurong is now establishing itself as a potential tourist hotspot . Catering towards tourist from Malaysia due to its proximity to Tuas, it offers attractions such as Chinese Garden , Japanese Gardens and Science Centre. Brand new hotels like Genting is popping up in Jurong

Pros
Close to Jurong shopping belt . A convenient stopover for travellers from Malaysia

Cons
Far from the airport and the heart of town
