SEA Aquarium celebrates CNY with Gong SEA Fa Cai from 9 Feb to 28 Feb.

All decked out in lunar red, S.E.A.A lines up Chinese traditional performances with a twist. Here are the highlights of Gong Sea Fa Cai.

Watch the fiery dragon conquer to seas of S.E.A.A. The performance at the iconic Open Ocean Habitat happens twice weekly. The Dragon is joined by the Sea Goddess as she guides the mighty beast through the 40,000 marine residents.

After guiding the Dragon to safety, the Sea Goddess will regale the story of the Fist of Fortune at the Ocean Dome.

Meet Mai the Manta / Sam the Shark

There are also meet and greet sessions with the resident Mai the Manta and Sam the Shark at various time of the day.

Embark on a trail of discovery and uncover fun facts about marine life auspicious in Chinese Culture. You will learn about the leafy sea dragon, the many ways to save the ocean, reduce plastic waste and why we should say no to shark fin soup.

Shark Exhibition in partnership with James Cook University

Along with the CNY celebrations, you can also check out the new Shark Exhibition at SEAA. Learn about the latest discoveries at an all new zone dedicated to one of the world's fascinating yet highly misunderstood sea creature. Visitors can get an up-close look at the biology of sharks and discover the various conservation efforts to protect these marine animals.

The exhibition is launched in collaboration with James Cook University.

As part of CNY celebration, Singapore residents enjoy discounts at $34 for adult one day ticket ( up $39) and $22 for child . senior citizen ( up $29). 

Guardians of the S.E.A.A

Speaking of Sharks, we had the opportunity to have an up-close encounter with them at the Shark Encounter as an introduction to the Guardians of the S.E.A.A program.

Guardians of the S.E.A.A is the new conservation group of S.E.A. Aquarium. The group brings together a community of like-minded people and organisations collaborating with S.E.A Aquarium to protect Marine Life. The Group is open to the public and you can sign up at this link.

Occasionally, they have special events line up and we are at the Shark Encounter to be part of their special tour.

For those who signed up and are heading to the S.E.A Aquarium during the first 2 days of the Lunar New Year (16-17 Feb) , you get an exclusive change to witness shark feeding up-close and be taken to a guided tour of the new Shark Exhibition.

This area is out of bounds to public. Having been there to witness the shark feeds, it was an educational experience to witness first hand.
