Daily Dose: Time Flies

In a blink of an eye, we are now approaching the end of February. The much-anticipated return to normalcy in 2021 is still in its infancy stage. Vaccination is slowing moving with age 60-69 earmark to start at end of March. At this pace, it is most likely that the majority would get their dose closer to the second half of the year.

This means a few more months of social distancing, mask-wearing and restrictions. We have already gone through a host of changes for the past 1 year, a few more months of sacrifice would be a non-issue.

Next Month would be 1st term exams for most students, it will be a busy month ahead!

1) 11 Imported cases

The good news was that there were no reports of local cases since Feb 17. Despite CNY season, this is promising with no major outbreak following this period.

  • 2 (Cases 60370 and 60371) are Singaporeans and 1 (Case 60358) is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from India and Nepal.
  • 3 (Cases 60362, 60378 and 60386) are Dependant’s Pass holders who arrived from India and the UAE.
  • 1 (Case 60366) is a Long-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from Myanmar.
  • 1 (Case 60364) is a Work Pass holder who arrived from Mexico.
  • 3 are Work Permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India and Indonesia, of whom 1 (Case 60383) is a foreign domestic worker.

2) Malaysia truck driver with Covid19 suspected of visiting Resorts World Casino
He was tested positive for Covid19 on Thurs and had apparently visited the Casino 9 days earlier on a previous trip when he entered Singapore for 'delivery'.
Interestingly, the drives are not allowed to mingle with community or stay overnight. Investigations are ongoing if rules had been breached.

3) Wild Boar attack in Punggol
2 injured in separate wild boar attacks in Punggol.  It is almost unavoidable since we had taken over their spot. Moreoever, there are still people who are 'feeding' them, taking photos or luring them out to the open. If we cannot leave them alone, incidents like this will happen.

4) Tighter Covid19 measures will remain for a few weeks after CNY festivities
