Maha Bodhi has student tested positive for Covid-19

This is the third Primary school with cases reported today.

Earlier, Fuchun Primary School reported a student tested positive for Covid-19. Frontier Primary has also confirmed a staff with Covid-19. Both schools had started HBL from today.

Maha Bodhi is the 10th Primary School to announce a positive Covid-19 case.

It was announced in a mail to the parent that there was a student who was tested positive for Covid19 on 16 May while serving a quarantine order. The student had attended the same external student care centre( Seedlings World Student Care @ Frankel) as an earlier confirmed case from St Stephen's.

Additionally, the school will not start HBL till Wednesday despite the positive case. The reason provided was that the student developed symptoms only after being quarantine. As MOH does not require contact tracing among school contacts, the school will not be placed under HBL till Wednesday.

We find this confusing as it seems like a new protocol. The child was quarantine on May 14 and only develop symptoms after quarantine with results out on May 16. Given that the St Stephen's cases were only confirmed on May 14 and 15, it seems like a  risk to not trace close contacts.

Regardless, for peace of mind for both parents and students, close contacts should be monitored. This is the only school among the 10 that took this protocol.

We wish the student a speedy recovery.

The other 9 schools are as follow

  1. Kong Hwa School
  2. Yio Chu Kang Primary
  3. Palm View Primary
  4. St Andrew's Junior School
  5. St Margaret's Primary
  6. Yu Neng Primary
  7. St Stephen's Primary
  8. Frontier Primary
  9. FuChun Primary
