The Brewing Ground Review : Relaxing Brunch

Exploring Brunch Options along East Coast Road?

Instead of opting for the usual brunch spot along East Coast or Joo Chiat road, consider taking a more unconventional route. Here's a hidden gem in the Joo Chiat enclave.

Nestled within the residential enclave of Telok Kurau, on the grounds of the former Telok Kurau Primary School, you'll find The Brewing Ground among the tenants at The Yards. An interesting side fact is that this school's alumni included Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and former Malaysia Prime Minister Datuk Hussein Onn.

The Yards serves as an inclusive hub for various disciplines, encompassing arts, dance, drama, and sports. Notably, The Brewing Ground stands out as the sole restaurant within this unique compound.

Situated on the ground floor of one of the eight buildings in this complex, The Brewing Ground's glass house design makes it easily identifiable once you step inside the compound.

Clad in minimalist aesthetics featuring white-washed walls, concrete floors, wooden chairs, and a floor-to-ceiling glass frontage, the space exudes a modern and laid-back ambience. Upon entering, you'll bask in the abundance of natural light streaming through the glass walls, and the presence of hanging plants adds a cosy and homely touch.

The Brewing Ground caters primarily to the breakfast and brunch crowd. The menu offers a diverse range of breakfast sandwiches (available until 4 p.m.) and an assortment of burgers, pasta, and mains for brunch (starting at 11 a.m.)

What to eat at The Brewing Ground?

Wagyu Bacon Cheeseburger ($26)
The in-house Wagyu beef patty looks appetizing between crispy Brioche buns, thick-cut maple bacon, Cheddar, Caramelized onions, Ketchup-Mayo and Lettuce. Comes with a side of fries and salad.

The Brewer's Breakfast ($26)

This has to be one of the prettiest-plated English breakfasts we have seen. You can choose eggs in any style: thick cut Maple Bacon, Chicken Cheese Sausage, Hash Brown, Sauteed Spinach, Sauteed Mushrooms and Toast. The bonus, it tastes as good as it looks.

Breakfast Burger ($22)

Other than Wagyu Bacon Cheeseburger for brunch, you could also get the breakfast patty. This one comes with Pork Sausage Patty, Silky Scambled Eggs, Caramelized Onions, Cheddar, Ketchup- Mayo all cramped in between Brioche Buns. Comes with a side of Hash Brown and Mesclun Salad. this one burger will make you full.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($16)
If you're a cheese enthusiast, you won't be able to resist sinking your teeth into the Grilled Cheese sandwiches. Combining Gruyere, Emmental, and Parmesan in the Triple Cheese version makes every bite worthwhile. Pair it with a side of fresh Mesclun Salad, and it enhances with each mouthwatering bite. The toasted, crispy bread matches this ensemble well.

This is part of the breakfast menu, but you can also get it while having brunch at The Brewing Ground.

Truffle Fries

Crispy, flavourful, and not oily, these are perfect truffle fries to complement the meal.

For beverages, the usual selection of coffee, tea and alcoholic beverages are also served.

Verdict
Escape the hustle and bustle of East Coast Road and discover a tranquil oasis. While reaching this location may pose a slight challenge without a car, those who drive will appreciate the ample parking spaces within the premises.

The food was not only beautifully presented but also delicious. It may be a little pricy, but if you're seeking a break from the urban chaos and simply want to enjoy a relaxing meal, The Brewing Ground is a top choice for us.
