Chelsea Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour Review

Let's go to Chelsea Stadium.

Affectionally known as Stamford Bridge, Chelsea FC Stadium is home to The Blues. It is also one of the richest clubs in London. While it may not be doing well in today's premier league, it has one of the most outstanding trophy cabinet in town.

How to book the Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour?

Our tour was the Stadium Tour and Museum. If you head to the Chelsea FC website, other options are available. Our tour includes a 60 minute experience including Dressing Rooms, Press Room, Player's Tunnel, Pitchside and more by a tour guide. A visit to the Chelsea FC Museum is included in the price.

We snagged a great deal using the Go City : London Explorer Pass for 5 attractions from Klook and saved 35% off the admission. This pass also includes Emirates Stadium Tour and Tottenham Stadium Tour, so it is worthwhile to get it if you are doing these.

There is no need to prebook for the tour, just walk into the office, and they will allocate you a tour on the next available time slot. We were there on a Matchday and still managed to have the stadium tour.

How to get to Stamford Bridge?

Getting to Stamford Bridge from Central London was easy.  Just head to Fulham Broadway underground tube anyway from London. Stamford Bridge is probably the most accessible stadium and can be reached in 30 minutes from Central London.

Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour: Where to Start?

Walked into the stadium and followed the sign to the Stadium Tour office. Your tour will start here.

As our slot was allocated at a later time, we decided to start with a self-guided tour around Chelsea FC Museum.

Highlights of Chelsea FC Museum

The Chelsea Museum is located on the 2nd floor above the stadium tour reception.

The first thing that greets you at the entrance of the Museum is The Boot Room.

On display are boots worn by Chelsea FC players.

We spotted a few legends among the names, such as John Terry, Frank Lampard and Cesc Fabregas.

Next up is a wall of Jerseys featuring the team that won the club's first European Cup in 2012.

There is also an area where you can practise your penalty shootout and replicate the positions where penalties were scored in the 2012 final against Bayern Munich.

The highlight of the museum will be the trophy room. While Chelsea may not be the most decorated club in London, it does have an impressive trophy cabinet due to their success on the European front. They are the only club in London that has won the European Cup, the UEFA Cup, European Super Cup, Club World Cup and European Cup Winner's Cup.

We could not find much tribute to managers like Jose Mourinho (the most successful) or Robert Matteo (who won the first European Cup). Still, a wall was dedicated to Frank Lampard, one of Chelsea's midfield generals during his era and a former club manager.

Highlights of Stamford Bridge Stadium Tour

Our Stadium Tour was led by a local lad, and our first stop was pitchside.

Chelsea Stadium was the smallest compared to the Emirates Stadium and Old Trafford we visited. The capacity of the stadium was only around 40,000. This dwarfs the 60,000 capacity of the Emirates and the 74,000+ capacity of Old Trafford.

It gives a more intimate feel when viewing a match.

The next stop was the Press Room. Unlike other stadium tours, you can take a photo here without paying extra for it.

The away room is next, and it is the most impressive. While it may not be the biggest, the collection of jerseys of players that once played on Stamford Bridge was a pleasant surprise.

Next was the home dressing room. Regarding facilities, it's second to the ones we saw at Emirates Stadium.

We also got a treat where we walked through the player's tunnel.

The tour ended with a bird's eye view of the stadium from The Shed End.

This tour also includes a lanyard that we get to keep as a souvenir at the end of the tour.

Our last stop was the Chelsea FC Megastore.

If you are looking for jerseys or souvenirs from Chelsea, this is the best place to pick something up.

Verdict

If you are a football fan, visiting Chelsea Stamford Bridge is a good addition to your London itinerary, regardless of the clubs you support.

It may not be the most popular club for many, but visiting the Blues can be quite entertaining. Before you leave, check out The Shed Wall for more Chelsea FC History!
