The Wacky Theme Park House of Singapore – A Hidden Marvel in the East
Is this the wackiest house in Singapore?
On a recent trip to Nyonya Taste by Brew and Bar at Upper Changi Road, we stumbled upon what could be Singapore’s most eccentric house—tucked quietly along Jalan Chempaka Kuning.
At first glance, it might seem like a regular residential estate. But one look at the front yard of this place and you'll realise you’ve just entered a different dimension. From Iron Man to ET, from Superman to a giant T-Rex, and even a giant panda, this surreal façade is packed with over 100 statuettes. It’s a full-blown visual circus—and that’s just scratching the surface.

A Neighbourhood Curiosity

Present Day |
According to a Mothership article, this house belongs to Cheong Boo Wee, a retired towkay who once had to take down the display due to neighbourly disputes. But like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the “theme park house” has made a grand return, louder, bolder, and maybe even weirder than before.

We conducted a quick timeline check on Google Maps and could see the house’s transformation over the years, a fascinating glimpse into how personal expression has slowly crept back into this otherwise cookie-cutter estate.

What’s even more amusing? A few neighbours have seemingly joined in the fun, adding quirky statues of their own to their otherwise traditional homes. Looks like the madness is contagious.

An Unlikely Symbol of Individuality
In a city governed by strict development guidelines and standardised design, a house like this is almost illegal-looking in its uniqueness. But that’s exactly why it’s so refreshing. Amid Singapore’s sea of uniformity, the Theme Park House stands out not just as a photo op, but as a symbol of individuality. And that’s a rare find in our local context.

Love it or hate it, we’re just grateful we got to see it in person.

Interestingly, most houses along this stretch are 70-year leaseholds starting from 1964. This means they have less than a decade left before their leases expire. A small handful may be freehold, but if you want to see this oddball landmark in its current glory, it’s best to go sooner rather than later.
