Good bye Mr Lee Kuan Yew

"You begin your journey not knowing where it will take you. You have plans, you have dreams, but every now and again you have to take uncharted roads, face impassable mountains, cross treacherous rivers, be blocked by landslides and earthquakes. That’s the way my life has been."

The family could not make it down to Parliament House to pay our last respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew as I was out of town for work. When I came back, the queues were already suspended. Thankfully, the community tribute centers were opened. I knew I just had to bring the boys down to say their final goodbyes.

Words could not express how I felt during this week. We shall let the pictures and the wisdom of Mr Lee to tell the story of an amazing week.

You gave us education , so we can learn to read and write. You gave us bilingualism , so we can see the world in 3 D.

"At the end of the day, what I cherish most are the human relationships. With the unfailing support of my wife and partner I have lived my life to the fullest. It is the friendships I made and the close family ties I nurtured that have provided me with that sense of satisfaction at a life well lived, and have made me what I am."

You know the Singaporean. He is a hard-working, industrious, rugged individual. Or we would not have made the grade. But let us also recognise that he is a champion grumbler. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/more-singapore-stories/story/parliamentary-panache-10-quotes-mr-lee-kuan-yews-awesome#sthash.E2X2dzx8.dpuf
'You know the Singaporean. He is a hard-working, industrious, rugged individual. Orwe would not have made the grade. But let us also recognise that he is a champion grumbler."

For once, I am glad we proved you wrong during this week. The Singapore spirit shone. From the orderly and relentless queues; to the many volunteers and servicemen who were there to made this vigil a fulfilling one to all who experienced it. There was nary a grumbler in sight.

I am proud of my fellow countrymen. I salute the lion spirit that is spurn from the original Lion, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

"Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards. This is your life and mine. I’ve spent a whole lifetime building this and as long as I’m in charge, nobody is going to knock it down."

"The Heavens opened and cried for him" - Lee Hsien Loong

From what I witnessed today during the State Funeral, Singaporeans from all walks of life has a little iron in them. Regardless how heavy the rain poured, we hardly flinch from where we stood. It may not meant much as an individual, but collectively, it sent a powerful message. One people , one Nation.

Today we came and we stood as one. Regardless of rain or shine , to grieve as one people, one nation. The Singapore Mr Lee envisioned from the early days of independence had shown up this week. I salute you Singapore and I am proud to stand with you as your fellow Singaporean.

Majulah Singapore!

Farewell Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Rest in Peace.
