SONY A7RIV : Features and Highlights

It's official.



SONY is going to have a brand new camera that would change the landscape of photography and videography!

We had switched to Sony less than 2 years ago with the SONY A7RIII. This camera had proven to be so popular that it would be hardly surprising to see photography or videographer using one. Today there is a new successor - SONY A7RIV



So what does the new model bring to the table?

Touted as the next Milestone camera, the A7RIV looks set to revolutionize the mirrorless Full Frame photography with its feature pack upgrades

Here are the new features in the A7RIV

World's First 35mm Full-Frame 61MP Image Senor

With the upgrade in sensor, Sony claims you can get medium frame format quality in the small mirrorless system. This is a big step as it meant your photo will have greater details than ever. With Pixel shift, you can even create photos with a whopping 240 MP giving your photo more details than ever before. Eyelashes would be much clearer than before.

15-Stop Enhanced Dynamic Range

See natural gradation from deep shadows to highlights

10fps with continuous AF / AE tracking

All these are shot with 61MP. You can even shoot up to 68 images per continuous burst given with accurate AF / AR Tracking

567 phase-detection AF points covering 74 % of the frame

On APS-C Mode, you would get 325 phase detection covering almost 100% of the frame! APS Crop is now at 26 MP giving you very usable files.

Real-time Eye AF for Still / Movie / Human / Animal

Importing the recent upgrades on the Sony A9, the A7R3 goes a step more with Eye AF for movies! That means super-sharp images on movies as well as photos.

Another feature adopted from the Sony A9. The Sony A7R4 now has Real-Time Tracking AF



4K Movie Recording | Slog 2/3  | HLG

There were rumours about 8K recording. It's still 4K, but it will be scaled down from 6K input. There will be touch Tracking for movies. S-Log 3 would be provided for wide 14 stop dynamic range and HLG. Hybrid Log- Gamma would be on the camera too.

Multi Interface Shoe with Digital Audio Interface

This is a step up for audiophiles. You can now record digital audio with the Sony A7RIV. Sony also introduce 2 new microphones with digital output to interface with the A7RIV

They are the new Shotgun Microphone ECM-B1M and the new XLR Mic adapter kit with the XLR-K3M.

• 5.76 million dot UXGA OLED viewfinder
• Faster Data Transfer via USB-C and Wifi
• Dual UHS-II slots
• Upgraded Grip Holding / Better Dust and Moisture resistance

There you have it, the bells of whistles of the SONY A7RIV .

The SONY A7RIV will be available in the market from Sept 2019. It will be priced at USD 3500.
