KFC Chicken Skin : Yay or Nay?

Would you try the New KFC Chicken Skin?

Does it live up to the hype?

We tried the new KFC Chicken Skin and this is our verdict

Does not look like the photo advertised
Expectations Vs Reality

The Chicken Skin in the promo phots looks long and strippy. The ones we had look almost like a ball.

Popcorn Chicken's offspring
Can you tell which one is the Popcorn Chicken?

In fact, it looks more like popcorn chicken than chicken skin

Taste more like the original flavour but with a little more crunch

Tastewise, it is leaning more towards the original flavour rather than the spicy flavour. The difference is that it is crunchier than the original. That said, it is not as crunchy as the spicy chicken offered in KFC.

Salty and oily
A little less salt and oil would be great. Otherwise, it is just a sinful treat!

Does not fill the box.

Don't be fooled by the box, it does not fill up the box. Instead, each box is carefully weigh and any extra pieces that exceed the weight limit would be taken off. As a result, the box is slightly more than half full.

Verdict

We had high expectation for this especially when we thought that it could be a snack for KETO diet. It does not quite match our expectation. KFC could improve it by giving us larger chunks of skin that do not resemble popcorn chicken. Add a little more spice and a little less salt and it would be perfect.

If you are looking for a novelty, it is worth a try. It's not spectacular but it should ease your craving for fried chicken skin. If you want to try, it is only available at selected outlets for $3.50 for a limited time only.
