How to Loh Hei : 12 step by step guide to a traditional Yu Sheng 2020

Yusheng or Lo Hei is a must-have during Chinese New Year.



It is a Cantonese-style dish that consists of raw fish, shredded vegetables, sauces and condiments that hold special meaning for Chinese New Year. It is said that Yusheng originated from Singapore. Today, there are traditional Yusheng and some more modern interpretation. We will focus on the traditional way to Lo Hei for Chinese New Year.




Here are 14 steps for a proper Lo Hei

1 Add Raw Fish

What to Say:  "Da Ji Da Li" 大吉大利

What to say: "Zhao Cai Jin Bao" 招财进宝 

Meaning: Incoming wealth and treasures.

4. Add Oil

What to say: "Cai Yuan Guang Jin" 财原广进

Meaning: Increase profits by thousand times in every direction.

6.  Add Carrot 

What to say: "Hong Yun Dang Tou"  鸿运当头

Meaning: Opportunity is coming!

7.  Add White Radish

Say This: While you toss in the shredded white radish.

8. Add Chopped Peanuts
