1) 40 new Covid19 cases

  • 37 Dorm ( 5 Quarantine, 32 surveillance)
  • 3 Imported cases (1 SC, 1PR, 1 ST VP)


The 32 cases from surveillance for workers in dorms in an eye-popper.  New clusters would likely emerge from this group given the living conditions in the dorms.

The 0 community case is welcoming relief.

As for the imported cases, there is a short term visitor pass as he was allowed entry to Singapore as his spouse was seeking medical treatment in Singapore. All 3 are from India.

2) New Dorm cluster at Blue Stars Dorms

33 cases have been linked to a new cluster at Blue Stars Dorms.

With 32 cases from surveillance yesterday, there will likely be more clusters in the days to come.

3) Malls in Orchard Road, Jewel Changi Airport among places visited by Covid19 cases while infectious

Someone went shopping. A reminder, stay home if you are unwell.

  • The Centrepoint mall on Aug 21 between 4.50pm and 5.50pm
  • Tag Heuer watch shop at Wisma Atria mall on Aug 22 between 4pm and 5.10pm, and on Aug 23 between 5.25pm and 6.25pm
  • Takashimaya Department Store at Ngee Ann City mall on Aug 22 between 5.20pm and 6.30pm
  • Food Republic food court at Wisma Atria mall on Aug 22 between 6.40pm and 7.40pm
  • Lucky Plaza on Aug 23 between 8.50am and 9.30pm
  • Ya Kun Family Cafe at Compass One mall in Sengkang on Aug 23 between 5.25pm and 6.25pm
  • Tiger Street Lab concept store at Jewel Changi Airport on Aug 24 between 8.10pm and 10.10pm

4) 16,000 foreign workers yet to be scheduled for routine Covdi18 testing ahead of Sep 5 datelines.

They will not be able to work as a result.  This also means that undetected cases could remain leading to potential outbreaks in the dorms they are staying in.

5) Less than 1% of acute respiratory infection patients had covid19 from swab test done July to mid-August

Why does Singapore community have a low infection rate compared to other cities? Could masks and policies like limiting gatherings to 5 be part of the reasons?

6) Aviva reinstates coverage of diagnostic endoscopies under integrated Shield Plan.

Interesting did not know that diagnostic endoscopy is covered in the first place. In any case, prevention is better than cure right?

But please do not abuse it!

One example Aviva gave was a policyholder who made claims for 12 nose scopes in a single year “without clear medical need”. It also said that there were “patients who were admitted for gastritis or piles and then referred to many other specialities… for additional scans and tests”.
