Sakura : Featuring Hello Kitty @ Flower Dome Review

 Kawaii!

It's Sakura Season once again. Unlike before, almost every one of us is grounded in Singapore. As much as we would love to travel to Japan to see the Sakura in full bloom, with Covid19, it is almost impossible for now.

Luckily for us, we have the annual Sakura floral exhibit at the Flower.   Dome.

Miss Japan?

This year, Gardens By the Bay threw in a little something special to spice things up. Hello Kitty will be part of the exhibit from 1 March!

Here are 5 things you should not miss when you visit

Hello Kitty

While the Sakura are fabulous, the Hello Kitty are undoubtedly the star of this floral display.  There are 4 Instagram worthy Hello Kitty for you to strike a pose. You could be Kawaii like this uncle here or do your own favourite poses.

Torri Gates

Torri Gates are synonymous with Japan. They are usually located at the entrance of Shinto shrines. We loved how they looked during our last trip to Kyoto famed Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Seeing Torri Gates at the Flower Dome brought us back to Japan. We wish we are there now, but given the circumstances, this is the next best thing.

Cherry Blossom

Cheery Blossom season is a time for renewal. It has been past a year since we were subjected to Covid19 measures. Hopefully, this year will be in abundance, and we could build new dreams!

Peach Blossom

Peach Blossoms are known as momo. They are the same family as Sakura.

Finding it hard to tell the difference between Cherry Blossom and Peach Blossom?

Peach Blossom has tear shape petals while Cherry Blossom has a cheft at the tip.

Look at the stems too. Peach blossom have short stems and usually have 2 flowers growing out of the same spot. Cherry Blossom has longer stems and usually has multiple flower clusters at the same branch.

The Sakura was not in full bloom while we are there. We reckon full bloom would be ready in about 2 to 3 weeks.

Red-Crowned Crane

Look out, too, for these majestic red-crowned cranes. It is a symbol of longevity and luck.

If you are lucky, you might even spot a sparrow or two when you are there!

Sakura Featuring Hello Kitty will be at the Flower Dome for a limited season from March 1. You can get your tickets here.
