Shaun The Sheep's Circus Show Review : A Kid's Friendly Circus Show

Shaun the Sheep's Circus show is in town.

If you do not know, Shaun the Sheep is a British stop-motioned children's series featuring Shaun the sheep, the leader of its flock. The other main characters in the show include Bitzer, the sheepdog and The Farmer, the man who runs the farm.

It does not really matter if you know the background before watching this show. Unlike other circus acts, this is one done by people in Sheep clothing with a monty cast of pigs, a sheepdog and a raging bull. If you enjoy acrobatics and slapstick, you will like this show.

Bought to you by international-acclaimed Australian circus ensemble, Circa, and Academy Award-winning studio, Aardman, you will be treated to a visual spectacle that will bring Shaun the Sheep to life on stage.

The show started with introducing each character with a short acrobatic performance for each of them. You have familiar characters like Shaun the Sheep, Timmy, his small cousin, Bitzer the sheepdog, the Naughty Pigs and the Bull.

While it may be confusing initially, this introduction lets the audience know who's who in this show. The big screen on stage is also a useful guide to what is happening.

There is also a storyline in the show. It is about the Farmer wanting to enjoy his day by watching the telly. Unfortunately, his telly got cut off by one of the farm animals at the end of Act 1.

For Act 2, To salvage the situation, the sheep devise a plan by putting up a circus act and televising it live on The Farmer's telly.

This is where the circus performance began. While the first act is about individual acrobatics, and the second is a mini-circus performance.

There are juggling acts, balancing acts, high ropes and more. While it is not a full fledge circus (an impossible task on the small stage), it is fast pace and engaging. With humour aimed at kids, it has the little ones captivated.

Shaun, The Sheep's Circus Show, is neither a Circus nor a musical. Instead, it is an entertaining circus within a show aimed directly at the younger audience. Kids under 8 would love the show judging from the giggles we heard from the predominately youthful crowd. It is not a show you bring a date to, but one you bring your young family to.
