Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant : Running Route
Do you know that Marina Barrage has a sister?
Let's take a short run to find out where it is.
Location
Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant is located only 2 km away from Marina Barrage. It is a place that offers a view of the city's skyscrapers. In addition, it also features a rooftop deck that is similar to Marina Barrage.
The main difference is the accessibility. Located between Garden Visitor Center and Fort Canning Carpark, the only way to get there is via foot for the public.
The Run
We started the run from Garden Visitor Center.
From here, it is about 1km to Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant.
This route is shaded by trees, making it a cooling run. As the trees are not very dense, a mid-afternoon run might be a tad hot.
There is only 1 shelter in between the Garden Visitor Centre and the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant. If you see dark clouds, returning another day is best.
u reach the Keppel Marina East Desalination, it would be difficult not to notice this imposing building in the middle of the 'jungle'.
There is a large green roof deck where you can head up and view the city skyline. While it is partially blocked by the nets of the Marina Golf Club, you would still enjoy a decent view.
We did a loop around the open deck. There is a path for you to run.
There are few things to do around here as it is private property.
Thus not many runners will run this route compared to BayEast Gardens. Nonetheless, this is a good option if you want a quiet run and be away from the crowd.
We finished the run with a run around the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant perimeter before heading back. The total distance is about 3 km.
We had wanted a longer run, but the dark clouds deterred us from going further.
Best Time to run
Avoid the Mid Afternoon, as there is no shade at the desalination plant. Any other time is a good time to run.
