Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex Review: Petite Headset for Professional Use

Looking for a headset for office or home use?

Despite employees returning to the office, many continue efficient habits they had picked up during the recent pandemic. Zoom and Microsoft Teams have become the norm in today's workplace. Instead of having meetings physically, meetings are often conducted online.

The benefit of doing so would be efficiency and productivity. With hybrid work arrangements, online meetings are the norm these days. Therefore, it is unsurprising that headsets are still in high demand.

Since headsets will be the primary driver of business engagement, getting a decent set for use makes sense. It is not uncommon to see people wearing headsets while on commute. However, using these headsets for meetings may mean compromising on quality and function as they are not suitable for long hours of calls. On the flip set, getting 2 separate headsets would mean more expense.

What's in the box

If your main objective is getting a headset for commuting and work, Jabra Evolve2 65 fits the bill perfectly.

First Look

Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex: It's what's inside that counts

Our first impression is that this set is compact. The package is half the size of most headsets in the market. We were happy to know that it comes with a velvety pouch specially designed to fit this Headset. This velvety pouch has a smooth inner lining to limit potential damage, and the durable outer fabric offers excellent resistance against abrasions.

Unique Fold and Go Design

The unique fold-and-go design makes the footprint of the Jabra Evolve2 65 more petite than usual. As a result, it effortlessly folds into a small package that you can fit into a handbag, a feat that is probably unachievable with 99% of the existing headsets. In addition, the blend of functionality and thoughtful design elevates the audio experience to a different level.

Sleeker

The Evolve2 65 Flex boasts a sleek and streamlined design, setting it apart from bulkier gamer headsets in size. In addition, its refined aesthetics make it an excellent choice for individuals of all genders. Moreover, donning this Headset in professional settings such as the office would exude a more polished and sophisticated appearance, complementing your overall attire.

Usage

Jabra Air Comfort

Unlike conventional headsets, the Jabra Evolve2 65 feature ear pads that gently press against the ears, providing a pleasant and secure fit. At a measly 136 g, the lightweight construction guarantees they stay firmly in place, even with regular use. In fact, it is so light that I hardly feel its presence when I have the Headset on for the day.

Buttons to control the headset line up on both sides of the Headset. On the left are the ANC button to cycle between ANC and Hear through. The ANC works well to dampen noise around you, so you can fully concentrate if you are in a busy cafe listening to a call. I tested it indoors, and the moment it is turned on, the sound from the air-conditioning unit dissipates. However, the buttons can be hard to detect for those with big hands.

It also features a power-on button that doubles as a Bluetooth pairing assistant. The left earcup has a wireless charging zone to charge your Headset wirelessly.
Made for Microsoft Teams

On the right are buttons to control the volume, pause/play music and mute the microphone. The button on the correct answer or end calls can be used for Microsoft Teams control.
Jabra Link 380 USB Adapter

It also comes with a Jabra Link 380 USB Adapter for dual connectivity. This means you can use this to connect to your laptop and your phone via Bluetooth. This allows you to smoothly transit from the office to commute freely. Of course, you could also link the Headset to the laptop without the adapter, but it will limit connectivity and the plug-and-play functions for Microsoft Teams.

Perfect for meetings

The Headset is also certified for leading virtual meeting platforms like Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. With 20 hours of battery life, this Headset can last a week's meeting calls.

Compact boom arm microphone

What impressed us it the compact boom arm microphone that stealthfully hides away when not in use. With the microphone tucked in, it would look exactly like a standard headset. This makes it perfect for use in commute. The Headset also comes with voice-isolating Jabra ClearVoice microphone technology, which means your voice will be crystal clear when doing an online presentation.
Great for Work

Your colleagues will also know when you are on a call as it comes with an integrated Busylight that can be viewed from all angles that come on in red during the call.

Red means on call

The Jabra Evolve2 65 Flex is more than just a headset for work; it also provides relaxing music and entertaining listening. With ANC,  it delivers a solid bass that blends well with vocals. Watching a movie with it gave an immersive sound experience that could give movie theatres a run for their money. Using Jabra for music playback can last up to 32 hours with ANC off and 21 hours with ANC on!

.

The Jabra Evolve2, 65 flex straight out of the box, would suffice for most. However, to uncover the full potential, the Jabra Sound+ App must be use. With the App, the first thing it does will be setting the Headset to your hearing experience.

You can also customise the Headset via the App, such as adjusting heart through and ANC level, auto-answer calls and sleep mode settings. There is also a find my Jabra that locates your Headset.

Verdict

Style and Versatility

With its combination of style and versatility, the Evolve2 65 Flex effortlessly bridges the gap between fashion and functionality, ensuring a seamless transition from work to play. It would have been excellent, except that it cost $518. At that price point, making it a mass-market product would take a lot of work. It will be a worthwhile investment for those who can take the plunge.
