Nimbus : Fusion Dining Cafe @ Joo Chiat

A fusion Cafe on Joo Chiat Road

Nimbus, a charming café born and bred in Singapore, can be found on the bustling Joo Chiat Road, known for its diverse culinary offerings. Nestled within a line of historic shophouses, Nimbus stands out with its unique emerald-coloured exterior, evoking the essence of London's classic cafes.

In contrast to the neighbouring restaurants, Nimbus operates from 8am to 6pm, offering a versatile all-day menu suitable for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or high tea.

Nimbus is a charming café with a seating capacity of 30. The seats are adjustable, allowing for both intimate gatherings of two or larger parties of 10 or more. Due to its size, it is advisable to make reservations in advance when visiting with a large group.

The interior of the café is adorned in a harmonious blend of white and brown tones, complemented by touches of greenery and hints of red. This combination creates a chic atmosphere that feels contemporary, invigorating, and tranquil.

The Food

Tater Tots

To begin our meal, we indulged in some delectable tater tots. These crispy, deep-fried potato cylinders were expertly cooked to golden perfection, accompanied by a generous sprinkling of grated Parmesan cheese.

Truffle Beef Bowl

The truffle beef bowl offered a delightful fusion of flavours. It featured succulent pan-seared beef slices, and a perfectly cooked sous vide egg nestled atop a bed of Japanese rice seasoned with fragrant truffle. The dish was accompanied by the side of Japanese pickles and sprinkled with furikake, adding an extra touch of umami goodness. The beef was tender, and the truffle rice was expertly seasoned, resulting in a harmonious and flavorful rice bowl experience.

Wagyu Beef Burger

This sublime culinary dish features a succulent Wagyu beef patty complemented by house-made burger sauce. Nestled within a crispy buttery brioche bun, there are layers of creamy gouda cheese and juicy Roma tomatoes, creating a symphony of flavours. Served with these are perfectly crispy tater tots and a refreshing side salad. Each bite is a harmonious blend of premium ingredients, leaving a memorable meal to savour.

Duck Toastie

There are toasties, and there are duck toasties. We were initially apprehensive about the East-West combination of duck in toast and melted cheese. It felt like experiencing the flavours of Peking duck on a slice of crunchy toast. The combination surprisingly worked wonders. Served with a side of tater tots and minty leaves, this extraordinary take on duck toasties surpassed our expectations, leaving the ordinary everyday toast in its shadow.

Verdict

It was a charming experience and a delightful journey for our tastebuds. The unique flavour and dishes would make us want to come back and experience the rest of the dishes.

Do note that this is a cashless resturant, so standby for your cashless option.

First-timers can enjoy $5 off their meals if they sign up for membership.

While marketed as a breakfast and lunch venue, this cafe would be a dinner option on Joo Chiat Road. The price point would make it tricky for an everyday meal, but for special occasions, we can always make an exception. We were intrigued by their desserts, such as waffles, Chocolate Lava Cake and Acai Bowls. These will be what we will go for the next time we return!
