At around 4 to 6am on August 12-13, look up to the sky, and you may catch a glimpse of the Perseids Meteor Shower that is projected to take place at this time.
Perseids Meteor Shower is one of the world's brightest meteor showers. It occurs every year between mid-July and late August with a peak on 12- 13 Aug. This year, it will begin on 17th July and last till 24 August.
What is a Perseids Meteor Shower?
The Perseids Meteor Shower is caused when Earth passes through a trail of space debris left by Comet Swift-Tuttle.
Where can I watch the Perseids Meteor Shower?
You can watch the Perseids Meteor Show under fair weather conditions. The best places where there are no light pollution and cloud cover are. Nature parks, beaches and reservoirs will be the best place to catch these. Avoid gazing directly at the Perseus constellation. Instead, look at dark areas, and you may spot streaks of the meteors.
When is the next Meteor Shower?
If you miss this one, the next one visible in Singapore would be the Geminids in December. This is said to be the biggest and most spectacular meteor shower. The second most spectacular will be the Perseids Meteor Shower.
