Adina Apartment Flinders Street Melbourne : Review

An apartment in Melbourne
Ever since our last trip to Sydney, we had became fans of apartment living. We love the homely feel of apartments. It does help that most apartments are more spacious with added facilities like a working kitchen , dining room and living room.
Since we were spending a week plus in Melbourne, we decided that apartments will be our choice accommodation in Melbourne. However we were a little late in booking and missed out on branded names apartments. Luckily we managed to find a 2 bedroom apartment located near Federation Square. We called Adina apartments at 88 Flinders street our home for a week.
Exploring apartments |
The Rooms
Our first impression was positive. In honestly, we were not expecting much as the hotel was Ranked 21st in Tripadvisor for Melbourne hotels.
Living room 1 |
Thus it was very pleasant to be greeted by a rather spacious set up. My estimation is that this 2 bedroom is probably at least 1000 sq ft big. If you have been to the new Micky mouse apartments in Singapore, this unit would probably feel like a mansion.
Living room
Living room 2 |
The living room comes with two 3 sweaters sofas and a TV. There is a balcony on the side and a small study table on the other. There is plenty of space for the two boys to roam about. The sofas are also big enough to fit the 4 of us comfortably... Lying down!
Dining room
Dining room |
Dining room consists of a small area with an oval table. It is not huge and barely enough space for 4. However it was definitely most useful for our trips as we had dine in on several occasions during our stay.

Bedrooms |
The two bedrooms are simple and efficient. Ther is a queen size bed on one and the other bed was made up of 2 single size bed combine into one. Beds are comfortable to sleep in as the family slept well for most nights. However due to the proximity to the train station, you would most likely be woken up by trains at six plus every morning.
The sound can be quite bothersome for the light sleeper. However since we woke up early for most days for activities, it was more like an alarm clock for us.
Bathrooms

Bathrooms |
There are also 2 bathrooms in the unit, one consisting of a standup shower and the other a bath tub/ shower unit. Toilet amenities such as shampoos, condition and shower gel are provided. House keeping are also done on a daily basis if you are staying for a longer term.
Kitchen
Kitchen |
There is also an open concept kitchen with workable stove and microwave. There is also a fridge and dishwasher included. We did not cook during the trip, but the kitchen was most useful for eating as well preparing milk.

Being an apartment, we were surprises that there mini bars are available.

As for the balcony, we hardly used it as it was pretty chilly outside!

Adinia apartment is well located. Located near Flinders Street Station and a stone throw away from Federation Square, this apartment makes a great base to start your Melbourne city. If you are game enough, you can walk from the hotel to Crown Casino via the Yarra River. We did that one evening and it took us about 40 minutes to walk.

Railway |
The downside was the railway. This might be a potential deal breaker for those who is looking for 'peace and quiet'.

A plus for the hotel is that IGA , a local convenience store is located just next to the hotel on the ground floors. Many eateries are also located within walking distance around the hotel.

A walk to a Flinders street takes about 7 minutes. While a walk to treasury gardens is an easy 5 minutes, Chinatown is also within walking distance, taking you not more than 10 minutes from the hotel.
Great location |
The free city tram station also stops just in front of the hotel. This is a boon for tourists as taxi can get quite expensive from point to point.
City tram |
We give Adina Apartments a thumbs up, rating it 4/5 overall for its excellent location, spaciousness, clean rooms and accessibility via public transport. If only the noise from the railway station can be minimized, that will make it almost perfect for us. It is this 'home away from home' feeling that makes apartment living more attractive than hotels for us.
The check in time is at 2 pm and the check out at 10 am. There is an Airport transfer by a private cab which charges similar to a taxi. There is also a small gym on site for work out.
Look out for special deals when you book early or have an extended stay. We had the room for under Aud 300 per night and it was value for money compared to similar priced hotels located nearby. We definitely think Adina is a good choice for families with kids traveling to Melbourne!
