World Drum Night 3 : Keep Calm and Play Drums

World Drum Night III

"When you can't feel anything else, you can always feel the beat"
The past one month plus had been a tough one for the family, so much so we badly needed a distraction to get our minds off the pain and loss we are facing from 外公 departure. At the invitation of our favourite drummers Zingo, we decided to attend the World Drum Night III to let the beat of the drums take our troubles away.
Zingo
After an epic drum experience in World Drum Nights 2, we eagerly await the start of the performances. It was not long before Zingo appeared with their discipline performance fill with innovative movements that made them a few new fans in the crowd. In terms of numbers, they might not be the biggest group, but they did left a lasting impression with their solid performance.

And it was only the beginning.
The night was filled with bands from various institutions such as ITE combined Emsemble comprising of ITE Collage Central - Batidas Centro Percussion, ITE College East-Soul Percussion, ITE College West - Oeste Percussive Movement Percussion.

There Was also the Dikir Barat Ensemble made up of students from Republic Polytechnic''s Dikir Barat, Ngee Ann Polytechinic's Malay Cultural group and ITE College West Wilmana. The ensemble is accompanied by Republic Polytechbic Seni Silat, mixing music with martial arts.
Daiko
Drum groups featuring drum techniques from all over the world are also represented. Singapore Polytechnic-Daiko, Ngee Ann Polytechnic Taiko had its drum roots from Japan , while Republic Polytechnic - Capoeira IG showed that martial arts, dance and culture can be fused together to introduce Brazilian culture to RP.

One great thing about World Drum Night 3 was the audience participation. The boisterous crowd added alot of flavour to an already impressive performance by the local students. With so much spirit and excellent musician to boot, the drum scene in Singapore is alive and kicking!
Nadi Singapura
Nadi Singapura showed exactly how strong this spirit is . Their energetic performance brought the loudest cheer in the house. This youthful crew was made up of young, aspiring and impartial musos who believe in uplifting their traditional drums and percussions like none other. This is one band to watch out for in the future!
Nadi Singapura
The beat did not stop as Republic Polytechnic- Beats Encore entertain with their infectious beat.

It should come to no surprise that they were crown champions of Marina Regatta Drum Challenge for 2 years in a row.

Another standout performance was the ITE That Accapella Group that beatbox their way to the audience hearts.

It was heartening to see the youth of today come together to give a performance worthy of a class act.

For $10 per ticket, we think it is all every bit and more!

If you want to feel the beat, there is an encore performance at the following date
