Recipe for Dad : Cheesy Egg Bacon Boat

SPICES OF LIFE

The last time I made the Cheesy Bacon Egg Muffin , it was a resounding hit with the family. Since the family enjoyed the experience (I as a cook and the rest as food testers) , why not have another go at new recipe. At this rate, I probably could be a baker dad in the near future.

So without further ado, presenting the Cheesy Egg Bacon Boat.

Ingredients

The ingredients are slightly different from the previous dish. Due to its similarity, you could prepare both dishes together for that Christmas party. This is NOT a new dish and there exist many variants of it on the internet.

You would need
  • 4-5 Eggs
  • 1/3 Cup of whole milk or Heavy Cream
  • Bacon Bits (to your liking)
  • Cheese (to your liking)
  • One Baguette (Do get the thin ones and not the big chunky ones)
  • Green Onions (thinly sliced as needed - we left this out for this dish)
  • Medium Size bowl

Step 1 : Break the Eggs
Crack all eggs into the bowl.

I had my little Chef apprentice to help me out. At age 5, he is able to crack an egg. I think I crack my first egg at 30....

Step 2 :  Mix the Eggs till liquid form

Step 3: Add Milk

Step 4 : Add Cheese

Step 5 : Add Bacon Bits
Recommended to add a little more for flavour.

Step 6: Cut out a long rectangle opening at the Baguette

Step 7 : Use a spoon to fill the opening.

It should look like this when done.

Step 8 : Place Baguette into Oven
Make sure your Baguette can fit in the oven!

Step 9 : Set it to 175°C  and bake for 25 Mins

Step 10 : Cut and serve while it is hot!

Viola . There you have it , Egg Cheese Bacon Boat. The bread is crispy and if your ingredients are right, it should taste great. I reckon it will make a great addition to the pot luck for Christmas.

Last tip : Add more cheese and bacon for flavour

I will be exploring slightly more complicated dishes in the future. Watch this space!
