Residence Inn Anaheim Resort / Convention Center Review Blog

If you are heading to Disneyland California, you should check out a stay at Residence Inn Marriot.

During our self drive holiday in California, we opt to stay at Residence Inn Marriott as the main hotel for LA.  We were looking for a hotel within walking distance to Disneyland and managed to lock in a great deal at Residence Inn Anaheim Resort / Convention Center. With a high rating of 9.1 on booking.com and rated highly for location and family stay, we decided to to make this our main base in LA.

Location
The Residence Inn Anaheim Resort is located just 10  minutes from the entrance to Disneyland Park and Disneyland California Adventure Park. The convention centre is also 4 minutes away from the hotel. There is also parking on site and it cost USD 28.08 per day for parking.

Check-in

We drove from Las Vegas and arrived late in the evening to check-in. Checking in was a breeze with our booking from booking.com. There are hints of Disneyland on its premises as Mickey Mouse greets you at the lobby with pamphlets from Disneyland.

Room

Rooms are warmly decorated and came furnished with a seating area and kitchenette. You have a choice of studio, 1 bedroom suites as well as family suites that can sleep up to 6. The 1 bedroom suite has configurations for 1 or 2 double bed.

We choose the 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds or double beds are they are more popularly known in the US.

When choosing a bed to sleep 2, you should go for a double bed as a twin bed would be too small for comfort. The room design was modern and simple. Overall, we were quite happy with the rooms especially with the extra space from the living area.

Compared to the surrounding hotels, it has one of the bigger rooms with a better configuration. The dining area and kitchenette proved useful as we did pick up some food from Target during the trip to eat in. It is not exactly cheap to eat out in the US with a simple meal at Cheesecake factory costing us about US 100 for 4 including tips.

Bathroom are also done up in simple modern style with an attached standing shower instead of a tub.

Amenities

If you want a hotel where you can unwind on non-Disney days,  Residence Inn does provide amenities to keep you occupied. Thre is a decent size pool located at the top of the rooftop.  The pool area comes with a splash pad area for kids, cabanas, small pool and even a whirlpool. Unfortunately, since it was winter when we visited, it was too cold to take a dip.

Due to its configuration, you might not be able to see Disneyland fireworks from here.  However, the hotel does provide higher floors where you would have a good view of the park and fireworks. We were on the lower floor but still managed a glimpse of the fireworks from the living room.

Other than the pool, there is also a well-equipped exercise room for your holiday workouts.

Breakfast is provided throughout the stay. From what we can tell during our stay, you simply show up, find a table and grab your breakfast. The breakfast does not vary much on a day to day basis. You get your usual American breakfast servings of eggs, ham and a Mickey Mouse waffle.

What's Nearby?

The main reason why we choose the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort / Convention Center was due to its excellent location. It was only a 12 minutes walk to the Disneyland Parks. Since parking can cost an arm and a leg, being able to walk meant that we do not need to pay double for parking.
Disneyland Park
It was also pretty safe to walk on  S Harbour Blvd back to the hotel late in the evening. Given the crime rates in LA, this is a welcoming relief.

The Anaheim Gardenwalk is also less than 10 minutes away. Here you could choose from a selection of restaurants that include The Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co and more. Along S Harbour Blvd, you can also find iHop, Subway, Panda Kitchen to satisfy your hunger pangs. There is also a Pizza Hut Express located at the lobby. You can also pop into the nearby CVS, Walgreens or 7 Eleven for a quick bite.

If you would like to indulge in shopping, The outlets at Orange is just 10 minutes away by car. Alternatively, you could head to Main Place Mall for your shopping and dining fix.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn Anaheim Resort. If we were to head back to Disneyland California, this would rank high on our list.
