NDP 2020 - Everything you need to know

This year NDP 2020 will be one borne out of a Pandemic. It will not be your usual mass parade fanfare. Instead, it will be a 'closer to home' affair as NDP goes to the heartlands. Due to the need for safe distancing, this year's celebration will bring many first.



What to expect?

Morning 
Prime Minister National Day Message
The day will kick off with PM Lee National Day Message to be broadcast 

Parade at Padang 

A Parade will be held at the Padang and will be reviewed by the president. There will be no live audience for this year's parade

National Anthem

While the National Anthem is played, flag-raising ceremonies will take place across the island.

Traditional NDP Favourites Performances 
Special tribute to frontline fighters, essential staff and everyday Singaporeans

Fly our Flag 

The aerial display of State Flag will be flying across the nations. Watch for the AH64 attack helicopters escorting the Chinook helicopter with the giant state flag.

Roar of Unity

F15SG fighter jets will perform around the island at housing estates. The first in Singapore's history

Mobile Column

Assets from Singapore Armed Forces and Home Team will return to the heartlands. There will be 5 different routes passing key community places like schools and hospitals.

Red Lions

Will make special appearances at selected locations in the heartlands for the first time!

Maritime Sailpast

Vessels from Navy, Home Team, and Maritime Port Authority will participate in maritime sail past. 

Afternoon

In the afternoon, NDP will be happening in your own home. There will be activities such as NDP cooking,  pledge, flag-waving and more activities planned out.  More details will be out closer to the date

Evening
Performances
This year NDP performances will be moved indoors for the first time. Instead of mass performances, NDP 2020 will feature smaller group performances for more intimacy.The performance will include local celebrities and everyday Singaporeans.

Virtual Choir
Look out for include virtual choir comprising of members of the public Singapore to our beloved national day songs. Selected submission will be put together into the NDP Virtual Choir and feature on National Day.

Pledge
The show will culminate to a pledge and recital of the national anthem involving Singaporeans across the country.

Fireworks
Fireworks will be launch in more than 10 locations around Singapore to allow Singaporeans to view it from the comfort of their homes instead of heading out to view.

Fun Packs
This year fun packs will be distributed to every Singaporean and Singapore PR households. Look out for it in the post!
