MOM Advisory on FDW : Rest days outside to be taken on weekdays, avoid congregating in big groups.

MOM had issued an advisory for Foreign Domestic Workers on 17 June addressing FDW rest day arrangements.

FDW rest day arrangements
  • FDW who wish to spend their rest days outside should seek the consent of their employers to do so on a weekday when public spaces are less crowded. FDWs should also inform employers of their whereabouts.
  • TraceTogether App is encouraged to be download and activated to facilitate contact tracing
  • Wear a mask and maintain a safe distance from one another
  • Observe good personal hygiene and avoid sharing food, drinks and other personal items.
  • Reduce time spend outside and limit the number of contacts they meet on the rest day
  • Comply with safe distancing measures at malls and public places and must not gather in groups of more than five.
  • Should not gather or loiter in public spaces or visit crowded places like City Plaza, Lucky Plaza and Peninsula Plaza.
  • Remittance at these places would require to schedule appointments with clients. Alternatively, use remittance via electronic platforms
MOM will carry out inspections and will disperse large groups and outdoor gathering. FDW who do not cooperate risk being fined and have work passes revoked.

For employers, do cooperate with the advisories. While some may find weekday leave inconvenience, this arrangement will help to ease the anticipated crowds over the weekend. This would be especially so for this weekend.
