Daily Dose: Fatigue

It had been 4 months since Circuit Breaker was introduced. At the height of the crisis, several restrictions were imposed. Today things are slowly getting back to normal. One can freely head out to shop, dine and meet up with friends and relatives. 

Nonetheless, masks wearing is still compulsory save for when one is having meals or exercising. Social gatherings are limited to 5 and travel remains restrictive.  At a recent survey, 44% of Singapore residents indicate that they are tired of the rules. It is interesting to note that this survey applies to Singapore residents ( including foreigners).  It may not represent the views of Singaporeans who constitute about 60% of the population. 

1) 86 New Covid19 cases

  • 78 Dorms
  • 2 community (1 SC, 1 WP)
  • 6 Imported cases ( 1 SC, 1 WP, 3 DP, 1 Student pass)

The imported cases still outnumbered community cases. The cases are from India, Philippines, Indonesia and Russia.  All the countries have reported high daily rate of above 1000, with India reporting close to 60K per day. 

2 community cases are contacts of previous cases. One of them is related to a vessel that had bought in 15 cases recently.

2) 15  crew members positive for Covid19 worked on ship that was in Singapore for repairs

Fifteen Filipino crew members who tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week all worked on the same vessel that had arrived in Singapore from India for repairs and refuelling, said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on Saturday.

There are currently 22 crew members left on the ship.

3) MOH to contact all visitor to HomeTeamNS Khatib KTV Outlet on Aug 1 and 2 after confirmed cases went there.

If you had been there on the dates, be prepared for a call.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is contacting all visitors to a karaoke outlet at the HomeTeamNS Khatib clubhouse on Aug 1 and 2, and facilitating Covid-19 testing for them, after three infected persons were found to have been there.

4) 10 evacuated after fire breaks out at HDB Flat in Bukit Panjang

The cause of fire is still under investigation, SCDF said.

  • Bukit Panjang Plaza on Aug 4 between 8.15pm and 9pm, and again on Aug 6 between 6.30pm and 8.40pm
  • Northpoint City on Aug 7 between 6pm and 8pm
  • Newton Food Centre on Aug 7 between 10.30pm and 12.30am
  • Hillion Mall on Aug 12 between 2pm and 2.30pm, and again between 8pm and 8.30pm
  • Northpoint City on Aug 7 between 6pm and 8pm

7) 44% of people in Singapore tired of rules to limit Covid19 spread

With seven in 10 Singaporeans saying the Covid-19 outbreak has lasted longer than they anticipated, people are becoming weary of the rules to limit the spread of the virus, according to a Sunday Times survey of 1,000 people.
