Rainbow Ring around Sun in Singapore!

 Caught this during noon.

Looked up to the sky and saw a magnificent rainbow ring around the sun.

This is the first time in my life that I had spotted this.

A Rainbow Ring Around the sun is known as a halo. Apparently, it is a common occurrence where there are high cirrus clouds in the atmosphere. This is halo is also known as 22-degree halos because the ring has a radius of approximately 22 degrees around the sun.

There is old weather saying, ring around the sun means rain soon. If this is true, look out for storms coming in later in the day!

As for us, it reminds us of the Eye of Sauron, given how 2020 is turning out. It could be a light at the end of the tunnel or an ominous sign of things to come. Let's hope it is just a weather phenomenon.

If you happen to spot one the next time, remember not to stare at it. Long exposure to the sun without protection will cause blindness!
