Halo

Daily Dose: Halo

I can see your Halo Halo Halo

A Halo around the Sun was spotted in the sky. This phenomenon can be seen from the East to the West of Singapore.

Known otherwise as the 22 degrees Halo, it is a rare occurrence in Singapore.

2020 is turning out to be quite a year. With COVID19 still in the midst, we wonder what will be coming for the rest of the year.

1) 21 New COVID19 cases

  • 20 Dorms (6 Quarantine, 14 Surveillance)
  • 1 Imported

While the numbers are low and there are no cases in the community, the 14 cases from surveillance is not an encouraging sign.

This meant that the virus remains active in the dorms. Expect more cases and possible clusters going forward.

2) Sun Halo spotted in Singapore

We spotted a Rainbow Ring around the sun at noon yesterday. It was truly an amazing sight.

Unfortunately, we might have stared too long into it and the eye is twitching now.

3) Covid19 Support Grant extended to end December but with new eligibility criteria

From Oct 1, those applying for the Covid-19 Support Grant (CSG) should also not own more than one property.

The CSG, which provides up to $800 a month for three months, supports Singaporean and permanent resident full or part-time employees who lost their jobs, were placed on involuntary no-pay leave or sustained significant salary loss because of the pandemic.
