Dyson Digital Slim Fluffy Extra Review : Made for Asian Homes!

A vacuum made for Asian Homes?

Dyson has recently introduced the Dyson Digital Slim Vacuum. This is touted as a 'smaller, lighter cord-free engineered for Asian Home'.

You are probably wondering why the focus on Asian Home. While Dyson had produced brilliant vacuums throughout the years ( we were still using our reliable V8 Fluffy from 2016!), it is a tad long and chunky. For smaller build Asian like yours truly, at the height of 1.68m, the Dyson vacuums of yesterday almost tower over me when held upright. 

Enter the ingenious Dyson Slim Digital.

The Tech

At first glance, you would probably not noticed the difference between a Dyson Digital Slim and the Dyson V11. Visually, it looks similar in design. The difference is more apparent if place side by side. Other than the colour variant, the new Dyson Slim Digital is 20% smaller than the Dyson V11. The difference can be mostly attributed to the shorter wand at 15% shorter and 6.3mm thinner than the Dyson V11 Series.

 Like the term 'slim' suggested, it had also gone on a diet, is 30% lighter than the Dyson V11.

In comparison to our 'old' Dyson V8, the latter is a beast compared to this new refine rendition of Dyson Vaccum. The smaller form factor also makes it easier to handle, making household less of a chore.

Also, the design is a vast improvement over the V8. It is more streamline and less chunky. In fact, the motor on its own fits the hands perfectly. It even resembles a ray gun you would see on sci-fi movies!

Dyson Hyperdymium Motor

You would think that a smaller version would mean reduced power function. On the contrary, power has not been compromised with the powerful Dyson Hyperdymium Motor. With 11 precisely engineered cyclones which ensure no loss of suction, this motor spins up to 120,000 rpm to generate 100 Air Watts of powerful suction. The power is only second to the V11 125,000 rpm and beats the V8 107,000 rpm. Hands down.

Dyson Digital Slim LCD

The fully sealed, five-layer filtration system also ensures that any dust captured stays within the unit. It also has an LCD screen that will show current performance including selected power mode, reminding run time and filter maintenance reminders, among others.

Compared to our 'ancient' V8, the Dyson Digital Slim is worth the upgrade.

User Experience

The Dyson Digital Slim is engineering for a variety of task. You can use it as a floor cleaner with the Slim Fluffy cleaner head.

Slim Fluffy Cleaner Head

The soft roller cleaner head is 40% lighter than the V11. Nonetheless, as mentioned earlier, power is not compromised. It is powerful enough to pick up large items and fine dust simultaneously. In fact, during our test, we picked by a live lizard hiding in one of the crevices!

Dyson Digital Slim with Motorised Tool

In terms of accessories, there are plenty of options that come with the package. Other than the Slim Fluffy Cleaner Head, you have the Light Pipe Crevice Tool (it lights up when use), Mini Motorised Tool and Combination Tool. 

There is even a mattress tool for cleaning mattress and sofa.

 

It also comes with Quick Release up-top adapter, Quick Release Extension Hose and Reach-Under Tool to help you reach those hard to reach places.

After cleaning, simply pop open the bin with a rotary catch and empty it in one smooth action.

The bin can also be removed for easy wash. 

The Dyson Digital Slim is so easy to use that even your older kids can do their share of housework with it. With the shorter wand and the slim build, it is easier to handle the vacuum. Definitely worth the upgrade from the V8!
