Hawker Culture is now a UNESCO Cultural Heritage

Daily Dose: Hawker Culture is official a UNESCO Cultural Heritage

What does Chicken Rice, Hokkien Mee, Carrot Cake and Prata have in common?

They are now part of UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. These dishes above can usually be gound in Hawker centres, one of the main 'attractions' in the heartlands. While this is great news, the reality is that there are fewer younger hawkers to take over the older generations. Let's hope we can somehow keep this hawker tradition alive.

1) 12 imported cases

Imported cases are a mix of Singaporeans, PR, Work Permits, Dependent Pass, Long Term Visitor pass and Short Term visitor pass from various countries. Like it or not, Imported cases are going to stay with us for quite a while. The good news is that there are no local cases reported.
