Chinese New Year Activities for Families 2021 : Indoors and Outdoors

This year CNY will be celebrated differently in Singapore.

Instead of the usual Chinese New Year Bazaars, you see in Chinatown or across the neighbourhood. It will be a much more muted affair.

Nonetheless, there are still experiences that you can enjoy to soak in the atmosphere. One word of caution, with the recent spate of community cases for COVID19, do avoid crowds when possible.  There are certain events that will also allow you to join in the festivities in the comforts of your home too.

Chinatown Street Lightup

23 Jan to 12 March
7pm-9am
Along New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street and South Bridge Road

This year, Chinatown will not have their annual street bazaars. However, the Street Lights will still be there. This year's Light up will feature 888 lantern pieces and towering 10-metre tall oxen next to a riverbank and water wheel that represents flow of wealth and fortune. We recommend either a visit during weekdays or a drive through the lights instead.
