For many, the way we celebrate this year's CNY would mark a significant change from the past. Big family gatherings, visiting half a dozen households, meeting up with extended family members in one location would be impossible to do this year.

Hopefully, this is only a pause as we head into 2021 with renewed hopes in the global fight against Covid19. While it may be too optimistic to say the worse is over, at the very least, we are glad that we are in Singapore. Things may not be 'normal' here, but we do not have to constantly worry about the threat of infection. As long as we remain sensible and compliant, we will all get through this in a good shape.

1) 12 Covid19 cases

• 9 Imported

First, the good news. Imported cases have fallen to a single digit. These are the details

• 1 (Case 60154) is a Singaporean and 1 (Case 60143) is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned from Malaysia and the UAE.
• 1 (Case 60137) is a Dependant’s Pass holder who arrived from the Maldives.
• 1 (Case 60161) is a Work Pass holder who arrived from the UAE.
• 4 are Work Permit holders who arrived from Indonesia and Myanmar, of whom 2 (Cases 60156 and 60160) are foreign domestic workers.
• 1 (Case 60139) is a Short-Term Visit Pass holder who arrived from India to visit his family member who is a Singapore Permanent Resident.

As for local cases, 2 are related. A 66-year-old Singapore PR who is a stall owner at a Sundry Shop at Chinatown and a 32-year old male who is the son and working at Swensen Changi Airport. Both have symptoms but did not seek medical treatment. Both did not use Tracetogether app which makes tracing of contacts difficult. 

The other is a 20-year olf Full-time NS man.

The Chinatown case would be worrisome as there were crowds over the past week due to preparation of CNY. The other case which has no link to airports shows that Covid19 may be in our midst. Regardless, stay vigilant during this CNY. Do bring your trace together token or turn on the app when visiting. If unwell, please stay at home.
