Halo Sun over Singapore - July 28
Have you seen the Halo Sun?
At about 1 pm, the Halo Sun marks its return to Singapore. The last time it made its appearance was back on Sep 2020. This optical phenomenon is not uncommon. It typically occurs when there are thin clouds so high in the sky that they are made of ice crystals rather than water droplets. The crystals act as tiny prisms, reflecting and refracting light in such a way that a ring is seen around the sun.
Here is a look at the Halo Sun
Warning : DO NOT STARE at the sun even for a few seconds.
The UV light from the sun would damage the eyes. Do refrain from staring at the sun.
