Fancy a Hotpot with the family?
Having a meal is a great way to connect with the family. At the dining table,
this is where the family catches up with the ongoing of their lives. A hotpot
meal would add value to this since not only do you have a meal together, you
also get to cook together.
Thus, when we had the opportunity to have a meal at Taikoo Lane Hotpot, it was
hard to resist. To be honest, this is our first hotpot experience in the
restaurant despite the fact that we usually have a weekly hotpot session at
home. We did have our apprehension since we are taking a set meal. As it
turned out, it was one of the best interactive family meals in a long time.
One of the reasons why we were hesitant to head to a Hotpot restaurant
was because we were unsure how and how much to order. At Taikoo Lane, it was
made simple with the introduction of a new set meal for 2022.
The set meal comes with a variety of soup bases to choose from and it starts
with 12 dishes.
To kick off your soup base. Here are some options you can consider
- Sichuan Spicy Soup with Beef Tallow
- Collagen Pork Bone Soup Broth
- Tomato Soup Broth
- Green Pepper Soup Broth
- Spicy Soup Broth
These are the times you will get in the set
Meat platter consisting of beef, pork and lamb.
Chicken and cheese tofu
Vegetable Platter
4 side dishes including pork ribs and potatoes

There are also other side dishes on the menu you can partake such as
fried pork.
The fun part about hotpot dining is cooking your meal. For groups, a
multi-soup base hotpot is provided. For individuals, it will come with an
individual hot pot.
One of our favourite soup bases will be the Sichuan Spicy with beef tallow.
Beware though, if you have a weak stomach this one is not for you. Even at
mild spice, it is considerably hot for a chilli lover.
The beauty of hot pot is that food is cooked in front of your eyes. This
is probably the 'fun' part for kids too.
One thing we need to mention is the sauce.
Everyone can make their own sauce. If you are stuck, we reckon
everything in sounds good!
The Taikoo Lane Hotpot set meals are available from $96 for 2-3 people
and $199 for 4-6 people. It is only available for a limited time. We had
the 2-3 people set and it was sufficient for us.
Verdict
The overall quality of the food is not bad. We like the DIY sauce and that makes a difference to the taste of the food. In terms of ambience, it is a typical hotpot restaurant setting. Thankfully it is not as smokey even though it is airconditioned. As for the prices, we reckon the set meal is a good deal for 4.
