Jabra Elite 7 Active Review : Workout companion with a customised sound experience
Hey good looking.
No, we are not talking about us, but the compliments that one would get with the Jabra Elite 7 Active.
The first impression of these earbuds is how rugged looking. Clad in black, it stands out with its unique shape. Unlike the current slew of earbuds with a stalk protruding out of the earbud, the Jabra Elite does not have that 'extra' feature. Instead, when fitted on the ears, you will literally see just a 'bud'.
Jabra Elite 7 Active Features
Premium Coating
Unlike the plastic feel of other earbuds, the Jabra Elite 7 Active is also clad in rubber, giving it a premium look compared to the rest of the pack. While it looks great, it could potentially be a dust magnet.

Before you start using the earbuds, you have to download Jabra Sound + from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Using the Jabra Sound+ , you would be able to optimise your audio experience as it guides you to fit as well as tune your earbuds to fit your listening profile.
There is a hearing test to create a unique sound profile for your ears. You can also personalise the active noise cancelling (ANC) to target more low or high-frequency noise.

IP57 Rated
IP57 means that the earbuds are protected against access to hazardous parts and dust protected. IT is also protected against the effects of temporary submersion in water (30 minutes at 3 feet). This makes it a great gym or running companion for most scenarios.
Shakegrip Technology
This provides a secure fit due to the silicone rubber material. You do not require additional fits such as wind tips. We ran and jumped with the earbuds and it stays in place all the time while we did our test. While the fit is great, it may take a few tries to get it fitted right on the ears.
Sound Test
ANC and HearThrough
The Jabra Elite comes with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). You are able to control it via the Jabra Sound+ app on the strength of ANC. You can also personalise the level on the app. For runners, there is also the HearThrough option. This will allow one to be aware of the surroundings as it amplifies environmental noise. This can be controlled on the earbuds.
Mono Sound
You can also activate the mono earbud by placing the unused earbud into the charging case
Sound quality
Overall the vocals are crisp. You can also control the music equalizer via the app. It also comes with 6 music presets as follows
- Neutral
- Speech
- Bass Boost
- Treble Boost
- Smooth
- Energize
Should you buy it?
While the Jabra Elite 7 Active may not have all the features one would like to have on the earbuds, it has sufficient plus points that make it a great companion. If you have an active lifestyle and want something that sounds and looks good, the Jabra Elite 7 Active will fit the bill.
