BHC Chicken Myeongdong : Best Fried Chicken in Myeongdong?

Craving for Fried Chicken in Seoul?

If you are in Myeongdong, the place to eat Korea Fried Chicken will be ay BHC Chicken. A quick search on Google will tell you that this is the most popular place for fried chicken in Myeongdong. It has the highest number of reviews (over 1000) compared to its competitors.

BHC Chicken

BHC stands for "Better & Happier Choice". It is one of the more popular Korea Fried Chicken chains, with over 1,000 stores. It engaged Jun Ji Hyun as an exclusive celebrity endorsing their stores. Apparently, she had played a Chicken Lovin' character in "My Love from Another Star", and the image stuck a chord with the Koreans ever since.

Reaching there, the popularity is even more apparent. Nestled in a row of Fried Chicken shops, this is THE only place that was full compared to the non-existing crowd of other restaurants. This was taken in the early evening before the dinner crowd arrived. When the queue got too long, the other restaurants started to fill up. This is a tip for future business owners, open a similar store next to the most popular store in town, and you may get spillover business.

There is indoor and outdoor seating. We had to sit outdoors despite being early for dinner. Since it was chilly, it was not an issue and a rather nice spot to eat while people watch.

There are a few selections of chicken to choose from. There are popular flavours such as Sweet and Sour Chicken, Sauce Chicken, Spicy Sunflower Fried chicken and more. Prices started at around 20,000 won when we were there in Dec 2022. That was approximately SGD 21. The serving for 1 is enough for 2 to 3 pax.

We ordered the Half and Half Chicken, Sunflower Fried Chicken and Sweet Garlic Soy Sauce Chicken. The fried chicken was crunchy with juicy meat. While the Sweet Garlic Soy sauce was heavily seasoned, it still retails the freshness of the meat inside. For the portions of the meat, you can opt for legs or wings, which will cost an extra 2000 won.

There are other side dishes, and we ordered Sprinkle Hot Dogs ( 6000 won) to do with our meal.

We had several other variations of Fried Chicken, including boneless and non-boneless varieties, and this one is one of the better ones we had on this trip to Seoul. The portion together with the side dish was sufficient for 3. If you want a meal there, we suggest going earlier than usual, especially over the weekends. Otherwise, you might have a long wait for your meal.
