For the weekend of 27-28 May, head down to Asian Civilisations Museum to journey through time.

For this year's Singapore Heritage Fest, ACM will have a series of activities and events that will let you enjoy the sights and sounds of the river during its heydays.

At Work By the River By Yip Yew Chong

Immerse in Yip Yew Chong's nostalgic painting as bumboats on the ACM Green. The sea of bumboats against the backdrop of the river and Singapore's skyline would make a beautiful sight that will take you back to yesteryears. 

Yip Yew Chong is a renowned artist and mural painter known for his street murals around Chinatown and many parts of Singapore.

Embark on the adventure of Sang Nila Utama as he sails the seas and brave storms from the island of Bintan to Singapore. Suitable for ages 4 o 10.


Get Crafty! Bead a River Boat Keychain

Get creative and make your own beaded boat keychain using Perler beads. Suitable for ages 5 to 10 while supplies last.

Our Amazin Pioneers! with Shawn Seah

Learn the stories of the pioneers behind Eu Chin Street, Seng Poh Lane and Seah Street. Speaker and author Shawan Seah will uncover lesser-known stories of the amazing pioneers immortalised in these streets.

Walking Tour: Once, there were many bumboats bu the Singapore River

Join local author Tina Sim on a leisurely walking tour along the banks of the Singapore River. Learn about how the river functioned as a port, meet key people who worked on the river and reflect on the role the river played in Singapore's development.

Singapore River: The River that Brings Us Life with Sarah Ang

$12 /parent-child pair. Registration required.

Learn about the Singapore River Clean-up, and experience the sights, smells and activities that took place on the Singapore River in this interactive storytelling session based on the storybook The River that Brings Us Life with author Sarah Ang. Participants will also make a bumboat craft during the session.
