Nozomi Autumn Menu Review : A Refreshing Treat @ Nozomi Forum
If you fancy a Japanese Autumn Treat, the Nozomi Autumn Menu is for you.
Nozomi is a casual Japanese dining born during the COVID-19 years in 2020. It is the brainchild of YOSHI, a fine dining restaurant that had to diversify during the dark days when the 'Circuit Break' phase threatened its existence. Nozomi was initially set up as a takeaway option to promote the kaiseki menu aimed to deliver YOSHI quality food at an affordable price.
Today, Nozomi has stood the test of time and has expanded to not one but four outlets around Singapore.
We had the opportunity to sample the Autumn Menu at Nozomi Forum. The decor at Nozomi Forum was minimalistic, with concrete walls and wooden tables and chairs. It has a casual vibe that makes it great for a stop for lunch or a first date.
Autumn Menu
The Autumn menu is a seasonal menu. From the earthy essence of mushrooms to the comforting richness of roasted chestnuts, the menu embodies a celebration of the abundant flavours of autumn. Here's a selection of what we had.
Tsubuga Carpaccio $58
This is our first taste of Whelk Sashimi. Served with Grated Garlic, Ginger and Carpaccio dressing, it gave its flavour.
Served broiled, they have a tinge of sweetness with a texture similar to calms.
Tori Mushroom Donabe $24
This has to be one of our favourite dishes for the evening. This Autumn Claypot Rice is not just a dish; it is an experience. Featuring a medley of Shitake Mushroom, Oyster Mushroom and King Oyster Mushroom paired with Chicken and Capsicums, the smokey umami flavour was a flavour on the palate.
One bite is never enough!
Tempura Shimeji Salmon Maki $24
The reason why we said the Tori Mushroom Donabe is one of our favourites is because of this dish. The Salmon and Cumber wrapped in signature red vinegar Sushi Rice topped with deep fried Shimeji Mushrooms and Ikura (Salmon Roe) is crunchy and delightful.
The combination works wonders in the mouth; add wasabi to it, and it was the perfect sushi dish for Autumn.
Autumn Tempura $18
Fried in light batter, this combination of Japanese Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoe, Oyster Mushroom, Shitake Mushroom and Octopus was crunchy. Neither oily nor dry, it's a very refreshing dish.
Other dishes that we had not tried are the Tako Pasta($22) and Smoked Yaki Tako($22) with Fig Sauce.
Verdict
If you are looking for a casual meal that has hints of fine dining, Nozomi would be the place to be.
The next time we are back, we will be trying out the main menu. In the meantime, if you would like to try the autumn menu, head down as soon as possible before the season changes!
