Privé Jewel Review : Dine with a View

Fancy dining by the waterfall?

If you are looking for a place to dine with a view of the world's biggest indoor waterfall, Privé Jewel is the place to go.

Privé Jewel is located within the Canopy Park on the 5th floor. With the terraces that open to the dome, you get a unique dining experience that is both 'outdoor' and air-conditioned. Depending on where you sit, you will also get a lush scenery with the HSBC Vortex in the background. You can hear the thunderous sound of the Waterfall from your vantage position while you dine. With a surreal setting, you might even feel you are in the Amazon forest.

We headed there for a meal and were pleasantly delighted with this setting. This was our second Privé outlet, having experienced a meal at  Privé Botanic Gardens. It was an early weekday evening and we had enough space to choose a corner for a meal.

Small Bites

We started off with a few small bites

Crispy Parmesan Wings

These Crispy Parmesan Wings are generously dosed with Parmesan. Fried to a crisp, it is flavourful with a cheesy, savoury kick. It is an enjoyable starter to our course.

Grass Fed Beef, Cheddar, Mayonnaise Sliders

The grass-fed beef, cheddar and mayonnaise sliders are tasty, but let's talk size. It's cute, but with one bite, it is a wrap. It leaves you wanting more. We reckon getting the original one will be much better.

Mains

Minute Steak & Fries

For the main, we had the Minute Steak & Fries. It consists of grass-fed Australian ribeye served with fries, mesclun and peppercorn sauce. We wanted medium rare but it is only served medium to well done due to the thinness of the steak.  The steak was decent, but extra points go to the crunchy and delicious fries on the side.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Roast Pork Belly

Next on our plate is the Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Roast Pork Belly. The spaghetti is served with sundried tomatoes, bacon, and sliced garlic with a kick of bird's eye chilli and your choice of spice level. This dish is a mix of East and West. It would have been a better dish if the Roast Belly had Sous Vide to make it more juicy and tender.

Spicy Arrabiata Penne with Prawns and Parmesan

We chose the Spicy Arrabiata Penne with Prawns and Parmesan. You can choose Brocolli, roasted sweet peppers and mushrooms instead of prawns and parmesan. This dish comes with basil, cherry tomato, zucchini, sliced garlic and bird's eye chilli. The creates a flavourful twist on a classic dish.

Classic Glass Fed Beef Burger

Last but not least was the Classic Glass Fed Beef Burger. With a double beef patty and a size three times larger than the slider, this would be a better choice compared to the sliders. You can also opt for a medium to well-done patty. You would not go wrong with this choice if you are a burger lover.

Desserts

For desserts, we decided to opt for the cakes instead of the usual desserts.

Hazelnut Praline Cake

The hazelnut praline cake has layers of moist cakes set beneath a praline frosting. For anyone with a sweet tooth, you will enjoy this cake.

Salted Caramel Pecan & Gula Melaka Cake

This dark chocolate cake is rich and delightful with its gula melaka fillings. Eat it with the salted caramel nuts at the bottom for a crunch and velvety texture.

Verdict

This place is perfect for a light meal. If you get a seat next to the waterfall, it will enhance the experience.

It's a good spot for a casual meal, an informal celebration, or simply to chill and watch the world go by. While the food was decent, but for the price it was not spectacular. Instead, the ambience stole the limelight as this was a delightful place to have a relaxing meal.
