Chow Zan Dessert : Traditional Dessert in a Quaint Location

Craving for a traditional dessert in town?

Finding traditional desserts in Singapore can be a bit of a challenge, depending on where you are, so stumbling upon one tucked inside a traditional shophouse is a pleasant surprise. We came across Chow Zan Dessert along North Bridge Road after dinner and decided to give it a try.

Setting

Chow Zan Dessert is housed in a two-story shophouse. The first floor features a clean, minimalist look with white walls and plastic chairs, while the second floor offers a warmer vibe with wooden furnishings.

The space strikes a balance between modern and inviting, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a sweet treat.

Dessert

We sampled a trio of hot and cold desserts: Black Glutinous Rice, Mango Sago, and Muah Chee. This mix provided a nice contrast of cool and warm desserts with a touch of in between.

In addition, we had the signature Mango Sago. The Mango Sago stood out with its smooth, creamy texture and satisfying sweetness, complemented by sago pearls that added a fun pop with every bite—a refreshing choice for Singapore’s humid weather.

Verdict

Chow Zan Dessert is a cosy place to enjoy traditional sweets.

With a wide variety of options on the menu, it’s worth a return visit the next time we’re in the area.
