Review : Luna Park Sydney @ Night

Get Looney at Luna Park

During our last Sydney Road trip, we paid a visit to Luna Park. We had visited Luna Park during the daytime before but this was the first time we experienced a theme park at night.

Luna Park was magical during that particular evening as we visited during Vivid Sydney. With the beautiful lights of Sydney painting the skyline, a night visit to Luna Park was special in its own right.

If you are just there for the ambience, you will be glad to know that there is no admission fee. This is perfect for the Instagrammers who are looking for the perfect night shot.

As for us, we are here to play. We got the Vivid Sydney family special and got park tickets for a song. The tickets allowed us to have unlimited rides for the night. For certain rides like the Ferris wheel, you can purchase single ticket rides.

The park was only partially opened during the evening. Not all rides are opened but that did not deter us.

There were sufficient rides to keep us entertained. We were there as early as 6pm and only left at 10 pm, spending a good 4 hours at the park.

From fast rides to tamer ones like bumper cars, there is a ride for everyone.

Our favourite ride for the evening... Bumper cars!
We took the ride for at least 3 times for the evening.

If you are there with kids, do bring them to Coney Island Funny Land. This indoor old school carnival playground would keep them entertained for hours.

First up was the slides

There are 3 different levels of slides for the kids (and adults).

If you want something more challenging, head to the slide on the furthest left. It is a 70-degree dip from the get-go that can scare the bravest hearts.

There are tamer attractions as well, each promising old school fun for the kids. We will let the photos do the talking here.

From Mirror Maze to the Big Barrel, Coney Island is perfect for younger kids.

For the nostalgic, check out the old school arcade games.

Other than rides, there are old school carnival games to play to win some toys.

We tried our hands on a few games. The gameplay is much harder than it looks!

We ended up with dinner at the park. There are a few dining options in the park which are child-friendly. If you are heading there in the evening and would like to maximise time, dining in the park is recommended.

If you are visiting Sydney with kids, we think Luna Park should be on the itinerary. For the best value for money, get the twilight pass that allows you to visit on the evening ( selected dates) Compared to the day pass, you can get a discount of up to 40% off the day pass.
