Mid-Autumn Festival is back at Gardens by the Bay.
A permanent fixture since 2013, it has become a local favourite hotspot for bringing out lanterns for a walk with families due to its fascinating large Lantern displays. This year, it would not be an exception with the Mid-Autumn Festival slanted to kick off with various programmes from 30 Aug to 15 Sep.
Best of all, admission is FREE!
We decided to take a walk around the Gardens and bring you a sneak peek of what to expect for the evening. The main lighting will start from 7pm to 11 pm. Here is a look at it during the day.
Dragon Dance Golden Garden Drop Off Point
The Dragon seemed to have appeared from the earth.
Walked through the tunnel of light on the way to the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest.
Illuminations of Joys Supertree Grove
Journey through a series of creative expressions mapped on lanterns hand-painted by seniors.
There are also interesting displays at the Supertree Groove
From Wayang to a traditional Chinese wedding, it will set the mood for a joyous Mid-Autumn Festival.
Giant Revolving Lantern Supertree Groove
The highlight of the Supertree Groove would be the Giant Revolving Lanter, We could not wait to see how it works in the evening.
Water Colours Dragonfly Lakes
Like the previous edition, Dragonfly lake would be the main attraction where gigantic lanterns float on the lake
These lanterns would look doubly good when lit up at night.
Lattice of Lights Bayfront Pavilion
Another impressive display awaits at the Bayfront Pavilion with its lanterns lighting up the ceiling.
Along the way, you could head out to the Planet and Meadows to enjoy more displays.
First, cross over the meadow bridge
Head to the Planet
Take a slow walk
before heading to the Meadows to see the large lantern vases.
Head back to the SuperTree Groove to see the colonnade of lights.
There will be Lantern riddles, Food Street, Performances and a special edition of Garden Rhapsody : A journey through Asia nightly from 30 Aug to 15 Sep at the Supertree Groove.
On 14 Sep, there will be a Mass Lantern Walk. Participants will get a Free LED fabric lanterns (while stocks last) while you walk around the Gardens. The walk will start at 730pm at the SG50 Lattice
The easiest way to get to the Gardens to enjoy the sights is from the Bayfront MRT. If you are driving, be prepared to be there early else you might have difficulty finding a spot.
Mid-Autumn Festival official date is on 13 Sept 2019. The Mid-Autumn festival at the Gardens will run from 30 Aug to 15 Sep.
