Daily Dose: We are back!

Miss your daily dose of snippets from Singapore?

We needed a break after an energy-sapping 8 months of non-stop reporting. After a short hiatus, we are recharge. With Covid19 becoming a 'norm' in Singapore, daily news will be more diverse going forward.

1) 42 new Covid19 cases

  • 28 Dorms ( 16 Quarantine, 12 Surveillance)
  • 4 Community (1 PR, 1 Work Pass 2 Work Permit)
  • 10 Imported Cases (2 SC, 5 PR, 2 Work Pass 1 ST Visitor)

The numbers in dorms remains a split between quarantine and surveillance. The continued detected in surveillance cases would dash any hope of dorms reverting to zero cases in the near future. On the contrary, more quarantine is expected due to this.

For community cases, 3 were picked up in surveillance and 1 is already quarantine.

For imported cases, India remains the country with the most cases. It is not surprising given that India now has the highest daily rate. However, with the latter fact in mind, entry should be more stringent for visitors from the country to control the spread. The number of imported cases from India had grown to hundreds in the past few weeks since Borders are open.

Travellers from India to Singapore who are not SC or PR will have to take a coronavirus test within 72 hours before departing from Singapore from Sep 17.

A valid negative test result has to be provided before allowed to Singapore.
