Orient Express is coming to Singapore : All Aboard!

All Aboard!

Orient Express will be rolling into Singapore and you can get to experience what it will be like aboard the famous long-distance passenger train service created in 1883 by Compagnie Internationale des Wagons' Lits.

What is the Orient Express?

The original Orient Express was a normal international railway service. Throughout the years it had become synonymous with Luxury Travel. The original train route was from Paris to Istanbul. The long-distance ride inspires many novels and movies such as Murder on the Orient Express and Around the World in 80 Days.

The Orient Express officially cease to operate in 2000 and the route disappeared from the modern railway timetables. Nonetheless, we will get to experience what life was like Once Upon a Time on the Orient Express with a pop-up exhibition at Gardens By The Bay this coming December. Given how travelling has been curtailed. This will be one of the highlights for families for the year-end holiday.

What to expect

Exhibition
Source

Once a Time on the Orient Express will allow visitors to relive the emotions of travellers who have boarded the Orient Express. There will be 2 original 1930 train carriages and a 158-year-old locomotive that will be shipped directly from France in this 2000 meters square exhibition space.

The 2 carriages had been classified as National Treasures of France and it will be the first time one get to experience it in Singapore.

Alongside 300 precious items and documents will be on display alongside the restored furniture.

Dining Experiences

In addition to the exhibit, one can choose to dine at The Orient Express Road Cafe.

Escape Room Experience
There is also a possible escape room experience onboard ala Murder on the Orient Express. No added details are provided but this would be extra and not included in the admission tickets.

Museum Boutique

Finally, there will be a merchandising area to give guests the opportunity to take home branded kids toys and exquisite collector's items. We are sure that there will be a toy train set on sale.
