Daily Dose: Results
First thing first, good luck to the children taking their PSLE results today. Remember, regardless of what you get, this is only just a small step in life. Do not let a mark define you. As long as you have given your best, dots will connect in life.
Speaking of results, this is also the 14 days without a local community case. A big step in moving forward within Singapore.
1) 18 Covid 19 Cases
18 Imported cases
While local cases remain 0 for 14 days, imported cases climbed to 18 today with 14 currently employed in Singapore. 13 of such cases are foreign domestic workers. These may include those who were granted home leave. The cases are from the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Myanmar, Pakistan, Indonesia and India.
There are calls by a prominent political commenter asking for reopening of borders. While the intent behind it makes sense, any opening has to be calibrated. We cannot go back to the good old days where travel is a breeze. Given the number of imported cases, the risk is high for false-negative results even if we test the visitors pre-flight and upon arrival. Perhaps a shorter stay (not more than 3 days) could be a solution. It will be hard to contain if there is a sudden influx of imported cases that can leak to the community. Like the saying goes, talk is cheap.
Back to positive news, there are no more active Covid19 clusters in Singapore as of yesterday
