Supermoon in Singapore : Timing for August 1 and August 31

You will get to see not one but two Supermoons in August!

Supermoon is a phenomenon in which the moon appears larger and brighter than usual because of its orbit pattern at this time of the year.

Sturgeon Moon : August 1

The Moon will begin rising at 7pm from the Southwest direction and will be at the optimal height at 9pm. It will be at the highest point at 1am and will set at 725am on August 2.

The Sturgeon Moon will be the second closest Supermoon to our planet in 2023, with a distance of 357,581km.

Blue Moon: August 31st

The Moon will begin rising at 7.34pm from the Southwest direction and will be at the optimal height at 9pm. It will be at its highest point at 12.51am and will be set at 7.03am on September 1.

The Sturgeon Moon will be the second closest Supermoon to our planet in 2023, with a distance of 357,581km. The rare Blue Moon will be the closest to Earth for 2023.

Where are the best places to see?

The two full moons can be visible anywhere in Singapore. For a better and potentially elevated view, visit open areas like Marina Barrage, East Coast and Southern Ridge.
