Before signing up for the massage package, check out the EMPIRE Prestige Pro.  I got my hands on EMPIRE's latest Massage Chair, which convinced us this is way better than a massage package.

First Impression

Having tried the EMPIRE Pro Massage Chair a year ago, I had high expectations for the latest EMPIRE Prestige Pro. While the former massage chair was comfortable, the massage strength can be hard and unsuitable for those who prefer a softer massage.

With the EMPIRE Prestige Pro, it is an entirely different experience. Everything was a step up, from the massage strength to the massage techniques to the preload massage presets. Presets this review took me a while because I fell asleep the first two times I used it. As someone who tends to nod off during a good massage, falling asleep on a massage chair shows how good it is. 

The design is similar to their previous EMPIRE Pro range. The main difference is that it is black. We think black goes well with almost everything and would fit most houses. Black also makes it more petite visually.

8 Reasons to Get EMPIRE Prestige Pro

If you are still on the fence, here are eight reasons to get the EMPIRE Prestige Pro

1. Cost

The EMPIRE Prestige collection starts from a $999 after-sales discount. Our review unit is the high-end EMPIRE Prestige Pro Massage Chair, retailing at $1899 after a discount (the usual price is $2,299).

A typical massage package comprising 20 massages would cost more than the EMPIRE Prestige Pro. The main difference is that the EMPIRE Prestige Pro offers at least 10 times more mileage. Compared to the higher-end models of existing brands, the EMPIRE Prestige Pro range is also priced at a fraction of the price and has similar functions.

2. Adjustable SE Cushion

Touted as Singapore's first adjustable SE Cushion on a massage chair, this upgrade made a difference in the EMPIRE Prestige Pro model. You can lay the SE Cushion on it for a softer massage. Alternatively, take it off, and you get a hard massage.

This gamechanger effectively doubled the capability of the EMPIRE Prestige Pro model to both a hard and soft massage.

3. New 3D Massage Roller

The massage roller for the Prestige model has also been upgraded. Its multi-massage mode mimics real-life hand massage. From kneading to tapping to rolling to deep tissue massage, I felt like I had a real-life massage experience.

The airbags around the shoulder, arms and legs complete the full head-to-toe massage.

4. AI Body Detection Scan

This function is available on the higher-end EMPIRE Prestige Pro. Before the start of the massage, it scans your body to tailor a massage to suit your body shape. Together with an industry-leading S/L track, you get maximum massage from your neck to your buttocks and thighs.

Other than the S/L track, airbags are located at the sides, hands and calves to add a compression-release feel to the massage. 

I like the sole reflexology feature added to the EMPIRE Prestige Pro models. It allows me to get a 3D acupuncture massage that helps promote blood circulation and relaxation.

5. Auto Preset Mode

This EMPIRE Prestige Pro has added a few extra touches to the auto preset, such as preset modes for men and women.

In addition, I like the customised modes like Thai Stretch and Sleep. The former gives me a good stretch through a series of compression, intrusion and stretching movements similar to a Thai Massage.

The latter feels like a massage on a rocking chair, while the EMPIRE Prestige Pro gently rocks alongside a soft massage mode. It is not surprising that I fell asleep several times in this mode.

6. Customised modes

You can also opt for manual customised modes. You can dictate the strength and duration of the massage. 

You can also incorporate Zero Gravity Mode and Heat Therapy into the massage. The first gives you a floating massage experience, while the latter applies heat to your calves and back at an optimal temperature of 45℃ to deliver a warm sensation.

7. Entertainment Hub

The EMPIRE Prestige Pro also has an inbuilt ergonomic arm to hold your iPhone and iPad. While I find this useful, especially if you want to catch up on the latest K dramas or movies, I do not use it often. The main reason is that this EMPIRE Prestige Pro tends to make me doze off like how I usually would in a real-life massage!

The EMPIRE Prestige Pro comes with built-in 3D speakers. Connecting it via Bluetooth and creating an immersive environment when you pipe in relaxing music during the massage is easy.

8. Premium PU Leather 

The EMPIRE Prestige range is clothed in Premium PU Leather, giving it a luxurious feel and look.

Its space-saving pod-like design takes up significantly less space while catering to persons of most sizes. It should fit easily in pockets of space like the corners of rooms in most houses.
