Superstar Virgo : Restaurants review

Superstar Virgo Grand Piazza
Ever wonder what you can expect from dining in the sea?
We took a cruise on Superstar Virgo and would like to share with you our dining experiences on board

Food Food Food
About 50% of our free time on board was spend on food. It was difficult to resist when there are up to 5 complimentary dining options serving up to 7 meals a day. In addition, as we were booked in Balcony class, we were given dining credits of $200 per cabin to be use in an additional 6 A La Carte restaurants and 6 cafes, snacks and ice cream bar around the ship.
Now for a rundown on the dining options in Superstar Virgo

Inclusive Restaurants
There are 3 main inclusive restaurants. Do note that seating are on a first come first serve basis. Table will be assigned to you once access card is swiped.

Bella Vista
Western Deck 5

Bella Vista - Chinese Dinner
Bella Vista serves Chinese and Western set meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had tried various combination during the trip. The food quality was quite satisfactory. Quantity wise, it was more than sufficient for us ( however we have 3 kids in a table setting for 9) The Chinese portion was served a-la wedding style with usually a 7 course setting for lunch and dinner. As for the Western course, you can choose from various sets available from the menu.

Chinese Breakfast

We had Chinese Tim Sum for breakfast, there are different tim sum set on a daily basis. We had spring rolls, siew mia, tao sa boa, porridge and hakao.

Continental Breakfast Buffet
There is also a mini buffet of cerals, bread, cheese, fruits and juices that you can partake as well.

Western Breakfast
You can consider having the Western breakfast set as well. You get to have unlimited selection on eggs done in the way you desired. There are added options such as hash brown , hot dogs or bacon in the menu. The mini buffet spread mentioned earlier are open to diners as well. We had breakfast at 2 different restaurants on the Ship and we highly recommend Bella Vista as your breakfast destination during the cruise.
We love the set up and deco as it reminds us of a grand ballroom.

Mediterranean Buffet Parthenon Food / Mediterranean Terrace
Buffet Deck 12

Can I eat this?

The buffet style of inclusive restaurants. It is a pork and lard free restaurant. We had one lunch and a breakfast at the venue. The buffet was not as sumptuous as compared to the other options.

Lunch
We were quite disappointed with our first lunch at the venue. As for breakfast, they provide vegetarian and a non vegetarian options. For additional dishes (such as pancakes and scrambled eggs), do remember to step out to the Mediterranean Terrace located at the back of the restaurant.
The ambience was not as attractive as compared to Bella Vista or Pavilion as it reminds us of a typical cafeteria.

Breakfast @ Mediterranean
Pavilion
Chinese Deck 6

Gala Dinner

We had our Gala Dinner at the Pavilion. The Pavilion serve mainly chinese food and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner itself was sumptous. The Pavilion is not as big as the Bella Vista. It's setting is similar to a Chinese restaurant. Get the seats closer to the windows for a cozier dining experience.
Tip for Gala Dinner :
For balcony class, you can have the option of booking Samurai and Noble House for the Gala Dinner. However do note seatings are limited. Form our experience, you have to be the first 50 in the queue to have a chance to book them. Else your options will be limited to Bella Vista or Pavilion.

A la Carte Restaurants
There are 6 A la Carte Restaurants on the ship. If you are in the Balcony class, you would have dining credits with varying amounts ( depends usually on the number of nights you spend on the ship) It is a good alternative to the inclusive restaurants as it provides more variety in food options. The price is reasonable and you can pay by cash if you do not have dining credits (To be settled at the end of the cruise)
Samurai
Japanese Deck 8

Samurai
We had a special dinner meal at the Samurai. This is Superstar Virgo Japanese restaurant. The restaurant is not too big and rather intimate settings. Foodwise, they have both set and a la carte options. Set can be from SGD 100 per couple to as much as SGD 300 upwards for menu which includes Wagyu beef.
If you have dining credits, do consider this dining option.

Noble House
Chinese Deck 7

The Noble House is a smaller Chinese restaurant on the ship. We did not have the chance to sample the food from here. However looking at the menu, it seems to have better dishes compared to the Pavilion. Prices is similar to the Samurai and the setting is similar as well

The Taj
Indian Cuisine (Buffet) Deck 8

The Taj
Superstar Virgo Indian restaurant. It serves buffet style food. The size is small compared to the main restaurants of the ship. Pricewise, it is quite reasonable at less than $30 per head.
Palazzo
Italian Deck 7

Palazzo
Want to go for some fine dining? Palazzo would be your choice. This Italian restaurant is slightly pricey compared to the rest. Do note kids below12 are not permitted and there are dress code to be adhere to ( i.e Gentlemen to wear collar, no shorts, no open toe footwear. Since kids are not allowed, we did not have a meal there.
However if you are going as a couple, this should be a romantic option to consider.
Blue Lagoon
Asian Bristo Deck 7

Blue Lagoon
Still craving for food after the normal meals?
This place opens 24 hours and serve your typical Asia fare from Satays to Penang fried Kway Tiao to Hamburger and fries. Price wish is approximately $20 per meal, making it a great option to indulge in local fare while you are aboard.

Taverna
Deck 3 International Snacks

Craving for spring rolls and fried chicken to dine under the stars? Head outside on the deck for your light snacks.
Bars ,Cafe, Snacks, Ice Cream
There are a few bars , ice cream cafe and even private Karaoke room avaliable on board. We would highlight 2 of them within the ship
Galaxy of the Stars
Deck 12 (18 years and above after 12 pm)

Fancy a place to chill after a meal?
This is the place to be. Have a cocktail while you gaze at stars in the evening or a cup of tea to embrace the morning sunrise. The place is not crowded and is great for a conversation or two.
Gelato Ice Cream and desserts
Deck 12

The place to go for your sweet tooth. Kids would love to have ice cream by the ocean. Do stop by for your ice cream treats. Prices are quite reasonable with most treats costing SGD $10 or less
You would most probably be spending most of your free time during the Cruise in one of the above dining areas. So do the most decent thing...
Enjoy the glorious food!
