9 Social Distancing Activities for families

Heading out for the weekend but still apprehensive about where to go?

While malls are opened, it may be a tad crowded. Even beaches and parks are packed with people. The community cases may remain low, but the threat remains. Despite that, staying at home might not be the option especially if you have kids. After months of being coop up within the confines of the four walls of the house, it will be good if you head out and get some fresh air.

If you are planning a day out and want to avoid the crowds, here are 9 activities for you to consider this weekend. Our criteria for this list - able to 'siam' crowds and maintain a distance of 1 meter.

1 Nature Walks

Singapore is well known as Garden City for a reason. Despite the gleaming skyscrapers and the neat rows of public housing, there are many pockets of greenery to explore. A little sun would be most welcoming to battle Covid19 fatigue.

2 Heritage Walks

If you think mozzie is a problem with the nature walk, you could consider a Heritage walk instead. We may be a young nation, but we do have a cultural heritage to discover.

You could plan your own tour or join a guide tour to get the most out of your heritage walk.

Suggested Tour

  • Civic District Tour
  • Chinatown Heritage
  • Little India
  • Perankan Heritage @ Katong

3 Go Karting

No F1 in Singapore?

No worries, you can be part of the speed and trills with Go Kart Racing. Kids above 5+ can join in the fun too at some circuits. Since it is one per car, you can be sure that social distancing is done.

The Kids friendly Go Kart places are as follow

4 Luge Rides

If Go Karts are too fast for you, try Luge Rides instead.

As long as your child is 6 and above 110cm, they can ride the rides on their own. Otherwise, you can always consider riding tandem with younger kids!

5 MegaZip

If you love the idea of being the modern-day Tarzan or Jane, head to the family-friendly Mega Adventure park and soar like an eagle on the Megazip, a 450 m long zip line. It's a solo activity so you get all the safe distancing you need. Parent can tandem with their child (below 30Kg) too

6  Island Hopping

If you yearn for an overseas trip, why not explore the islands of Singapore instead. You could have a picnic at St John's, explore the pristine white beaches of Lazarus Island or visit the tortoise sanctuary at Kusu Island. Island Hop to get away from crowds!
