Size and build

Compared to our current DCS 8515, the new model carries a smaller footprint in both height and width. The design has also changed in comparison to the old model.

Setting up was a breeze via the Dlink App. Launch the app and it will detect the new device. Follow the instructions on the screen and its good to go in a few minutes.  Control on mydlink app appears stable though some lag can be expected.

In terms of picture quality, the 1080 30fps beats the HD performance of the older model. .

This is a comparison of a 720p photo and a 1080p photo. The latter picks up more details than the 720p

From the app, you would be able to set privacy mode, motion and person detection and a host of other functions.

What's in the box

The items included in the box are as follows
  • DCS 8526LH unit
  • One 3 pin and One 2 pin plug adapter

The ease of set up, the smart features and the 1080p definition are major pluses. For those who are getting it as their first set, there should be no problem setting it up. For those familiar with Dlink, they would be happy with this set. As long as the app remains stable, this sentinel would be a good tool to keep watch over your house.
